April Fools!!
Matt (Footytube Staff) 3 years ago
As many of you have already worked out we here at footytube got into the spirit of the 1st of April by providing you with a lovely retro introduction screen. In case you missed it here it is:

We also brought you the exclusive and shocking news of Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement. It was shocking and exclusive mostly down to the fact it was totally made up and penned by our very own mod and Sun reporter in training Ant.

The Macedonian International News Agency (MINA) failed to spot the prank and reprinted the article in it's entirety.

I assume it was a busy day in their news office so no actual journalism could take place.

The jape also made the top six April fools day jokes (came in at number 6!) on Whoateallthepies.tv

Our team of mods also helped keep the joke alive by editing peoples comments who had guessed that it was indeed a prank. Thank you for all your comments on this article I am sure when Fergie finally retires these sentiments will make his golden years all the more peaceful.

I can now say I have had an article published in a Macedonian newspaper, and cross that off my list of things to do. If I had known it was going to get so big I would have put more jokes and references to footytube in there

IT WAS A prank? Ffs, I was so happy that he was going to retire haha, well done Ant. Many people on this site really fell for it, and I actually remember people saying how their "April Fools" comment got edited

Lol I was begging for it not to be a joke when I first read it

The Independent got in on the act too. All in the name of a few 'lols', good stuff.

Well one newspaper in northern ireland got into the spirit of april fools day, which seems to be dying out, as there was a time every newspaper would have carried some sort of prank.
Not football related but this one raised a few eyebrows....Lol
