Sweden 3. 30 Draw 3. 00 England 2. 37

The second round of games in Group D has England coming of the back of a good draw with France going into the match as clear favourites against a Swedish team who will be disappointed with the opening game lose they suffered at the hands of co-host, Ukraine.

Sweden really need a win to have any chance of qualification from the group. England will be looking to continue to progress under Hodgson and will see this match as an opportunity to show their attacking credentials.

Sweden to Win.
Fans and pundits alike saw very little in Sweden's opening match to make them think that they have the ability to get a result out of England and get out of the group. After the loss they have been roasted by the press and even Ibrahimovic himself has criticised some of his fellow team mates. So to get a result tonight they will need to sort out the dressing room first and foremost.
Defending for Ukraine's two goals was poor so they will need to get tighter at the back especially with England's quality on set peices.
Elmander looks to be fit again and his return could be a massive boost for the team as long as he has not been rushed back. One of the keys to Sweden's qualification was the pairing of Elmander and Ibrahimovic. If these two can recreate that form they may shock England.

England to Win.
The tide of optimism is turning in England after a decent performance against the French. The one criticism that has been levelled at the team was the lack of attacking adventure and they will be looking to improve on that tonight. Rumours suggest Andy Carrol will be called in and England will start with something like a traditional 4-4-2 with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain losing his place on the left being replaced by Young who will take on a wingers role.
Andy Carrol's inclusion will give England some much needed height and physical presence in both attack and defence and will cause the Swedish back line lots of trouble.
England need to start well to silence the travelling Swedish fans (13, 000 v 3, 000 reports suggest) and they will need to be a lot more positive is they can do that then they should win this game.

Likely result.
Despite England's tournament hoodoo I am going for a Sweden 0-2 England scoreline. Which will leave the Swedish needing results in the other match to go their way.

I watched a re-run of Englands game vs France during the thunderstorm break and I seriously thought that England would score the second goal to get them the win - so did Adrian Chiles and the entire ITV studio. Walcott the saviour, who would have thought it. Did you see how slowly he got off the bench? I was expecting more from football worlds Usain Bolt equivalent
