I can't understand why Poland should be assigned a free ticket (even if they are one of the hosts) given how much they have been playing terrible for the last twenty years or so. I don't remember any success this team has achieved maybe since the 80s
Try the silver medal in olympic games in Barcelona 18 years ago plus you haven't seen the game so you're not really entitled to your own opinion. They played great, just as they did against Ukraine, the only problem is that they lack the finishing. The Aussies had 3 shots and scored two goals, one from a PK, we had 15 on goal, many great chances and scored only one. Anyway, the progress is visible, they are doing a lot better than just couple of months ago. It's a young team, and most of the players still have to get used to each other, these things take time, so take it easy. I hope that you will qualify for the championships and we'll fall into one group.... Than (Mod Edit: Language)
The rules are the rules. They are hosting the tournament and they qualify directly in the finals.
What you call a "free ticket" is paid through the nose and the participation of the national teams in the finals is one of the sources that will hopefully bring some money back to Poland and Ukraine
Of course, I know the rules and they are given a free ticket because they are one of the hosts but that does not solve the problem that they suck as a team and play a very boring football, which is my problem. Look at Ukraine; they have been achieving something at least for the last 6-8 years (2006 WC Qualification) and they are the team on the go but Poland.... I would never watch a Poland game.
Mod Edit: Language and inflamitory statements involving nationalities
But I should admit that I would not complain at all if I had to watch the Polish Ladies' Volleyball team 24 hours seven days. Skowronska.... My elf lady. Too bad that I do not live in Istanbul anymore. She will play for Fenerbahce next year
Gentlemen please watch your language and your tone both of you are flirting with subject matterthat could get you banned. You are both making good points but you must watch your delivery and refrain from personal attacks. Neither of you are new but never the less please have a read.
Have to say that the process of building a team which won't disappoint us in 2012 is a difficult one. We do suffer because there is no youth coaching, and there were no funds in our football league for the last decades. It changes, but maybe in 6-7 years we will see the fruits of current actions, at least the new stadiums are rising and maybe on these, we will see a Polish team being able to remind of the glorious past. PS. Polish FA board has to go!
Poland isn't bad at all, we are slowly progressing, we had amazing chances but we just need that finishing. Everything is coming together for us and pretty soon we will be ready for Euro 2012. We just need another solid defender, and maybe a middy. But seriously don't say Poland is bad because most of you didn't watch our game vs Ukraine and Australia. These highlights show almost nothing
I was at this game as one of the very few Aussies (about 30) and it was a pretty entertaining first half of football. The Polish fans were fantastic to us and were in strong voice for their side
