What would do him and the rest of the team great is to bring an experienced keeper to the squad.
Tex has been an amazing keeper all season long. Very consistent and many crucial saves. But keep in mind that he hasnt had much to learn from the other keepers in the arsenal squad.... Almunia could be one of the worst keepers I ever seen. Fabianski stepped up but we all know how he used to be, and seems to always get caught in set pieces. One of the things that I believe the team needs is too bring a experienced keeper that could retire in a few years so it can be cheap, and also it can bring leadership and experience to the squad wich has been missing. Tex can benefir from this because he may learn many things since he still young, and when the new keeper retires Tex will be of adequate and well ready to take over arsenals number 1.
Possible candidates: Diego Lopez Gianluigi Buffon Shay Given
Theres also been talks about Arsenal having an eye on stenkelenberg, neuer, reina, and others but they are still too relatively young and could kill any chances of Tex to have the number 1 jersey in the future
I just posted a similar point I guess. Lehman would be a fantastic behind the scenes coach, he's the kind of commanding keeper we need. I really think that Tim Howard would be a perfect fit
I agree with gunnerpera. I think the best and most feasible candidate is shay given because I think we could get him for cheap and he has a lot of premier league experience. Buffon is old, but not that old, so he would be too expensive
I am a massive fan of Wojciech Szczesny and I have complete faith in his ability to stop shots, and command his area. Its just saving pens where we havent seen him too much but he has saved a fairly rubbish pen for KDavies recntly
I think that for now he should be our 2nd choice with Fabianski as 1st choice. While getting an experienced keeper would be simply brilliant I think we all know it isn't likely to happen on the 40 million budget we have for summer. It's true that Fabianski used to be prone to making mistakes and very weak on set pieces. Both Tex and Fabianski have both been brilliant shot stoppers for us.
However since that game against Chelsea Fabianski has well and truly gotten his confidence and that seems to be all that he was lacking. He no longer makes stupid errors or bad decisions, he comes for the ball on crosses and commands and yells at the back line and players on set pieces and in game better than Tex does currently. This also gives the defence more confidence with him there and translates to them playing more relaxed and consequently better. Also his ball distribution is far superior to Tex's and allows for better build up from our team. Tex tends to give the ball back to the opposition a lot of the time. Oh and Fabianski has saved more penalties than he's let in.
Don't get me wrong here, Tex has the greater potential out of the two but he had a 50/50 mistake with Koscielny in the Carling Cup, took out lennon for a penalty when he should've stayed in goal against Tottenham and didn't come for the cross for the 1st goal that Bolton scored the other day. So for now let's play Tex in games like the Carling Cup and early FA cup rounds so he gains experience and go for the title from the start with Fabianski as our no.1 choice in goal.
Here's a video of his recent form before the injury for you incase you've forgotten how good he was for us. Link: www.vimeo.com/21565622
Well the thing with keepers is: seniority has priority, unless you actually buy an experienced keeper. That's the whole reason that Almunia was in goal for so damn long, he's been at Arsenal longer. The keepers know this code and it's especially strong with Wenger so I'll be suprised if he doesn't appoint Fabianski as no. 1 when he's back next season. Also, realistically Tex has very little experience so it's only fair
I know Fabianski probably should get the shout and he was getting much better and his distribution is better but, I actually feel confident with Tex in goal, I just see him and I think everything will be alright, maybe it's because he has been lucky enough to not have too many errors which make me think twice about fabianski.
I just don't think the defence is as comfortable with Tex in goal as they are with Fabianski. Never mind what we think, it's how the players feel on the pitch that counts in the game
I think arsene should rotate the two next season.... Our team is so fragile we have to protect the GKs now lol.... On a serius note rotating the two could be good rather than leaving one on the bench for so long that he loses his form

I dunno, I don't think we need to buy in a keeper although I watched a vid of the keeper you are talking about that you posted a while back and he does seem good
Edit: let me rephrase that Volkan is a good keeper but he's not consistent imo this season showed that. I think we don't need another keeper cause as zilch said fabianski is good too
Yes he should be. The north London derby just showed how talented he is. Yes he made one mistake but my lord was he fantastic for the rest of the match.
If he is replaced as our number 1 his confidence will take a knock and no doubt so will his performances
Tex is simply the best keeper at arsenal atm so I would like to sell almunia and get a better replacement and neuer is so good but I know we can't get him and stenkelenberg is good too but isn't he kinda old
I wouldn't mind him starting over Fabianski because I'm afraid Fabianski is gonna' turn bad again. He will be under Lehmann's guidance and he already is better at shot stopping than Fabianski (similar level to Almunia).
The one thing Tex needs to do is improve his goal kicks and play more games so he doesn't concede the penalty like he did against Spurs.
Shot stopping:tied fabianski, tex Set pieces:, mannone, Goal kicks/throws:almunia Reliability:tied, tex fabianski and mannone One on ones: fabianski Potential: tied: mannone and tex Link up play: almunia but fabianski not far behind Leadership: lehman
He is certainly good enough, we have seen it especially in the past few games. Its just experience that I'm worried about mainly come from carling cup final blunder and also the penelty he gave away just the other day
I'm a big Wojciecj Szczesny fan, and he has tremendous potential, but I think we could do with an old, loud, dominating goalkeeper for a year or two. I'm talking peter schmeichel loud. Someone who has experience, is a natural leader, and commands the box. We need a character like that in general and whoever it is would be a great model for Szczesny.
Tex for me has the reigns and they're his to lose unless wenger surprises us and picks up a keeper.... He has had brilliant moments this season with most of the goals coming from set pieces and very shaky defending.... If anything I think its important to keep lehmann on in some capacity to help tex mature and become a better commander of the defence.... Esp on set pieces.... Who ever is in the between the sticks next year I hope they won't drop the trophy like stecklenburg.... Because we will win one next year.... In wenger I trust
Time will tell. But for sure we have answerd the question on buying a new gk. Flapps was good near december, only not to fly his arm off. Wojo, accoring to bob willson and lehman, is the future no. 1
Aluminium will finish his contract and maybe play 2 year in another small team
I just want a regular starter at he position, I think not having consistency at the position is what has unraveled our defence at times this season creating a multiplier effect where both the defence and keeper are making mistakes.... I hate "what if's" but if schwarzer had been on this season.... Not only would we have beaten fulham yesterday but also the cc and who knows what else
