What Pepe did was disgusting – players in almost all leagues dive all the time – this shouldn't be new for a defender.
If you touch a striker (who got away from you) – you are inviting a dive. And, regardless of anything – you have no right to kick a player on the ground TWICE!!

Cmon dgerry… the images speak for themselves mate, along with the commentator… That is at LEAST a shove…not just a friendly 'placing' of hands… Why does he need to touch the player in the first place?? I agree with you that many times players just flop and fake, but that is not the point; that is just a poor excuse for the unmerited reaction of Pepe, period. I'm not being irrational in thinking that the guy needs a life ban… but a good half season maybe or rest of the season would suit him well. Football gets a bad reputation because guys dive? Football gets a bad rep because of violence more than some fool diving… worse fouls occur with no consequences? sure… but that is not the point either… it was wrong, there is no excuse, he should confront the punishment for his actions and hopefully learn the damn lesson.

this was no worse than cantona's attack on a fan, zidane's headbutt or rooney's stamp..and (i'm not saying it's wrong) but he actually just barely grazed the guy..again i'm not trying to underscore the fact that he was malicious about it..but ban for life? ban for the rest of the season should be enough..

You don't need to kick anyone – we already know you are a twat from your comment . However we needed Pepe to push over a defender (A real madrid player would have done the same), kick the defender as hard as he could twice, punch another player in the face, then when he walks away he tells the 2nd referee “you are all sons of whores”, to know that he is a twat, and that he should be banned for the rest of the season, and have a 100,000 euro fine.

i think pepe is a brainless footballer. even if the striker did dive, it is up the to referee whether he wants to reward Getafe with a penalty or not. What pepe did was just to ensure that Getafe got their penalty they wanted, a really long ban and to watch their team lose the league to Barca.
