APRIL FOOLS JOKE!
argentina let them win to think they're good.
PT | April 2nd, 2009 @ 1:04 am
I find this defeat a insult to the Argentinian people. This team is hoozing talented players but yet managed by a drug addict that is known to cheat is way thru life. I just don't see what people see in this guy.
Kudos for Lucho Gonzales as a FC Porto fan this man is tops on my list and the only one that scored a goal.

Unbelievable, what happened to Argentina's free flowing attacking football we saw on saturday. This is a major defeat, they just weren't on it. Bolivia were first to every free ball, they were fresher and made their defence look second rate. The goalkeeper was atrocious too. I still think Argentina are the favourites for next year, but this was a bad game. Well done to Bolivia.

nice one bolivia !! was a pleasure to see these goals ! the bolivians must be damn confused if they think on the other games of their team. anyway drug addicts are not the best managers.. :D
SP | April 2nd, 2009 @ 8:56 am
A good thing to mention is that the game were played at 3 200 meters above the ocean. The Bolivians is used to this, but the Argentinian players couldn't even breath normally.

I believe Brazil face the same unfortunate situation against Ecuador plus Ecuador's fan packed the stadium like a can of sardine, and they manage to get a draw.

Bolivia won because they played at home.
Bolivia is one of the highest places on Earth (I think after Peru) I could see the Argentina players were having trouble fitness-wise.
Nevertheless Bolivia did well!
pino149 | April 2nd, 2009 @ 3:09 pm
if you lose 1-0 or 2-1 in la Paz maybe then you can blame the altitude. Losing 6-1 sounds live over confidence and horrendous pre game planing. well done Argentina, way to show your true colors, they better learn to take all their opponents seriously or else they will be in for a rude awakening.
Bolivianos en el Extranjero | April 2nd, 2009 @ 4:30 pm
Thank you for giving us the pleasure of watching the “GOLES”, Unfortunaly, for us this game was not broadcasted on live TV.
To the people that have the “excuse” that La Paz, Bolivia is 3,200 meters above sea:
THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE, GOOD PLAYERS CAN PLAY ANYWHERE, THAT IS WHY THEY HAVE TO HAVE ALL THE TRAINING THAT IS REQUIRE TO PLAY A GOOD GAME, SO DON'T GIVE ME THE POOR EXCUSE OF THE ALTITUDE.
Bolivian players are playing all over this planet, even Whashington, D.C. has Bolviian players on its team.
Concerning Maradona: Leave him alone, The Argentinian Association elected him, so what do you expect?
GRACIAS!!! Por lo menos pudimos ver los “GOLAZOS”. En cuanto a Maradona: Este es solo el problema personal de Argentina. EL MISMO PAIS LO ELIGIO.

speak english moron o sht wat mean that??
futbolmad | April 2nd, 2009 @ 10:11 pm
If this was all about altitude, then Bolivia should have won all their home games and should qualify for South Africa with ease. They tied against teams far weaker than Argentina, and even lost at home. So much for altitude. They simply played better than the Argentines. Any one who watched that game will tell you that. The Argentine stars simply disappeared. They were beaten and that was it.
BALL | April 3rd, 2009 @ 4:38 am
No, it was the altitude. When Argentine came to play, Bolivians moved their lands up high. When the rest come, they lower the altitude. LOL
pablak | April 3rd, 2009 @ 7:06 am
if i was bolivian i would be drunk out of my mind right now
sly | April 3rd, 2009 @ 9:08 am
stop using altitude as an excuse. if it had been such helpful, Nepal would be in the world cup at all times as they only need to win all their home matches.
jit | April 3rd, 2009 @ 12:47 pm
r u on crack mate? maradona couldnt play football?…damn…people r so ignorant…
dmart | April 3rd, 2009 @ 3:57 pm
Humm altitude? Interesting very few of the player ever play in their home field all year. They are all over the world. The Argentine team landed hours before the game, they had the same option to train anywhere as did the Bolivian team. They choose not to, that is their preparation strategy. All teams look for advantages and distractions to un-nerve visiting teams, it is part of the game. Two national teams came together, played a game and this time the underdog won. Equal opportunity, equal game. The Argentine team will learn from this loss and rebound, and the Bolivian team will take this win as momentum to improve. Great game and congratulations to Bolivia! Viva Bolivia!
Rob | April 3rd, 2009 @ 3:59 pm
It was the high altitude, the Argentines weren't prepared for the thin air. This is definately a freak result, Argentina, along with Spain, are still the best national teams.
dmart | April 3rd, 2009 @ 4:00 pm
Thank you for posting the videos, hard to find the highlights.
Rob | April 3rd, 2009 @ 4:11 pm
True, that they played well, and Argentina didn't, but the reason that they haven't had the same results at home is because many other South American countries are also at very high altitude, and so are pre-acclimatised to it, eg Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela.
Jasmine | April 3rd, 2009 @ 6:27 pm
Look I don't want to burst anyone's fun but its hard to believe that Argentina lost…..Look my background is Bolivia and all and i love them but i think the game was FIXED….idk……its hard to believe it…..because Bolivia is okay but not good then again idk…….so if anyone had a different opinion please correct me if I'm wrong.
SLee | April 3rd, 2009 @ 9:46 pm
Lol what's with the music??
KBVA | April 5th, 2009 @ 1:58 am
Jasmine, get a life dude! You can clearly see that the Argentinean goalie sucked. I bet you don't know the difference between Football and Futbol. Are you stupid to think that Argentina would agree to a fix?? Idiot! They are crying now…like the song goes “Don't Cry for Me Argentina”….
VDAY | April 5th, 2009 @ 2:00 am
Agree with the comment, at one time DC United had two of the best players Echevarrie and Moreno. Look up your facts people. GGGGGGGGGOAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL BOLIVIA ROCKS

jmoniw | April 8th, 2009 @ 7:45 am
I’m not a great football fan, but it’s a shame to read that a few here that think that this win for Bolivia was an April Fool’s joke. Granted, Bolivia is not a match for Argentina on the right day, but the fact is on this day, Bolivia dished out a good trashing! VIVA Bolivia!
