I'm not an england fan. But I'm really waiting to see the spanish lost their game. See you on the world cup.
ronaldo7 | February 12th, 2009 @ 2:52 am
that has nothing to do with anything.
oh dear.
Italy lost a few games after winning the World Cup to France and also drew with Lithuania (yes lithuania, never been to a world cup)
the fact they won that and England didnt get there doesnt matter one bit. TEAMS LOSE EVEN IF THEY WON THE LAST MAJOR TOURNAMENT!
They were and are the better team and definately deserved it on the night, but had they come in with your attitude, they would have lost.
get a clue
torres | February 12th, 2009 @ 3:33 am
Ohhh dear, England has lost against Spain in the last few encouters, get a clue, everybody knows England is no match for Spain. It was an easy/obvious prediction.
A_por_ellos | February 12th, 2009 @ 3:44 am
We will there to beat England…and however you want to name, even Argentina (way more tough team than Brazil)…Spain now believe in themselves, and we are going to repeat the same success that we have had in the younger teams for years and years (world cups, eurocups in under 17, 19, 21 and gold medals)…wait and you will see it….we just needed to believe in ourselves and now we do~~
Aupa Espanna!

Spain never win any World Cup. They were lucky to beat Italy during the last Euro. And against England, Spain was playing against a second team. Shame on Phil Jagielka.
F9Torres | February 12th, 2009 @ 3:58 am
Lucky? I fail to see how trying to play football against a 11 behind the ball set up for 130 minutes, and later out finishing them. Italy were garbage in the Euros. They were lucky to get passed the group stages, after beating a woeful France, and getting a very lucky draw with Romania (Mutu should have buried that penalty). Not to mention their hammering they got from the Dutch, of course.

england did not put their best striker and best central defender
the central defence looks very weak and soft.
I wonder it wouldn't be like that if using Rio Ferdinand who can read the game really well and have exceptional composure.the midfields didn't connect well with each other.they should know that spain is a very good technical and tactical team.you have to able to control from defence and move from midfield to delay opponent tactical.spain did their best.overall certainly not the best selection. presence of rio ferdinand, theo walcott and wayne rooney, lennon will make a difference. david villa is certainly the hottest international striker at this time.
Diao | February 12th, 2009 @ 9:50 am
Spain's defence is really very tight and hard to beat unlike England's, the whoever guy who gave away the ball shows the dumb defence of the English's.
England sucks compared to the past, they don't have world class players, the only one is David Beckham, who is quite old. They also need a good striker like Owen. But sadly, Owen is old and rusty now and Rooney should have be in the squad.

César | February 12th, 2009 @ 2:57 pm
Spain isn't racist, only 3 persons of the 40,000,000 in spain.
In england there are hooligans and sometimes, they are recist too

''Spain now is the best team in the word''
In spanish: “Ahora mismo España es la mejor selección del mundo. Lo viene demostrando desde hace un tiempo en cada uno de sus partidos”

Spain did look good on the night but they put out there first team (pretty much the same team as in the euros) while England put out a lot of second team players, so in my opinion it wasn't convincing from Spain. Plus I don't think England are ready to be able to compete just yet, give them a few months maybe a year.

Spain is without a doubt the best team in the world today :)

Nice win by spain and brilliant goal by Villa. it was obvious who would win. true England weren't playing with the best team possible. but the players were there. i mean if you got players who never play for England consistantly like Phil Jagielka, Carrick, Heskey (he sucks), Downing and some other garbage you won't win much less against a team like Spain. Why not play Hart in goal? with Rio and Upson in CB, the fullbacks were ok, Beckham, Lamps and Barry in the Mid, SWP on either wing, and Angbonlahor and A.Young up front they could have gotten away with a draw.
But with the likes of Gerrard, Rooney, J.cole and Walcott gone they didn't stand a chance. if those four were there i'm sure England could have won like 2-1.
Ben | February 12th, 2009 @ 7:52 pm
For England, 2014 should be the real target
They finally got the right manager after 5 years of messing around.
But Terry, Beckham, James and maybe Ferdinand, Lampard, Gerrard and the two Coles should be finished by 2010 .Walcott, Hart, A. Young, L. Young, C. Davies, Johnson, Agbonlahor and Rooney have to step up
mkc | February 13th, 2009 @ 10:02 am
England has to give more chance to new comers rather than Beckham, ferdinand, terry and hensky. They should announce retirement by themself. what a same guys.

England have too many average players who again were exposed against a top team. David “Calamity” James is a joke, Downing is an average player who has never been good enough for England and will never be. Emil Heskey is rubbish and his goal record of 5 in 51 says it all, even John Terry has better. Carrick or Lampard may look good in a world-class team but they are not worthy of cleaning Xavi's boots
Tom | February 13th, 2009 @ 1:55 pm
Making this prediction based on the fact that England didn't qualify for the Euros is just ignorant. England lost because they weren't as good as Spain on the day. I suppose it didn't help missing Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard and Ferdinand. England were playing a second team.
