Players from European champions Spain dominate the uefa.com Team of the Year 2008 which was published yesterday. The poll attracted more than 256,000 users with 3.3 million votes cast to determine last year’s ‘dream team’. It includes six members of the Spanish team that won Euro 2008 after beating Germany 1-0 in the Vienna final. Scroll down for more details…

just a quick thing, id do a 433 with senna/essien over ribery. That would truly be a formidable squad that would actually work in a game. Id put evra over lahm as leftback though but not that big a diff.

Should have put David Silva and Iniesta in instead of Ribery and Christiano Ronaldo as midfielders.
Then remove Lahm and put in Ferdainand.

How can u put a centre back in as a left back!! I agree that Ferdinand should be in the team in place of Terry. And Evra should be in that team. He is the best left back in europe. I just remember lahm being made a fool of by torres in Euro final. The fact that there is no United players in that back line is crazy!!!!

I'm not even a Man Utd fan but I think it's ridiculous that of Man Utd players only C.Ronaldo is there. Puyol was very average all season for Barca, and Terry was OK but nowhere near as good as Vidic or Rio. And Lahm?? He would be a good fullback if he had a clue how to defend, but he hasn't. Evra is the most complete left-back in football and his season was brilliant, why Lahm is there I have no idea.

cech was okay this season vds was better same with casillas
cole played bad…evra was wayyyy better
ferdinand was solid
pepe had a couple good games only in the euro
alves played good but not better than ramos or bosingwa
lampard played well but not as good as other canidates
senna played well but dunno really think he fits well for this first team maybe a second team

Lol the line up is very good but just a few changes.. since before this line up came out I've thought about this & 2 me my line-up is undoubtedly the best. I don't think there is any fan out there that really studies the game like I do.. & I'm 17 about 2 enroll in a football academy it's about time I put my footballing genus 2 work.. anywayz here's the line-up
Manager: Alex Ferguson (Manchester United; Scotland)
The best ever.. it sucks how all these other clubs just fire hire fire hire.. they don't understand the importance of chemistry in a club & having Alex there through thick & thin proves this.. as soon as a manager loses two games they call for his head & say he's lost his touch ? Hello ? It's football ?
Look at Real Madrid & Inter.. two very good clubs in there respective leagues & worldwide.. what do they both have in common ? They both sac manager's that win them the league(another trophy 2 the cabinet) just because the play wasn't flashy enough :S ????????? So stupid.. Ok they say that wanted champions league title; let me show you a little statistic.. How many times can 1 win a champions league trophy ? Once a year.. how many teams (the qualifications for the champions league is very prestigious thus Very Good Teams) compete in the UCL every year ? 32 after qualifiers.. This means that there is a 1/32 chance (after qualifiers) to win a UCL trophy every year.. just over 3% in percentage terms!
It's not that easy Real! Inter! Don't sac a freakin manager cuz he can't get you a champions league in 1, 2 or even 3 seasons!!! He won the freaking league! what are you selfish.. yes that's just insane..
To prove how stupid these sacs were.. both replacements.. W.Ramos is stupid: why? He left Sevilla when every1 really respected him for his achievements at the club at was just beginning (two UEFA cups in a row never done before) before he decided to leave 4 Spurs :O ?? WHY ?!?! MONEY!!! Whats more important: a respected career or money ?
He flopped at Spurs & stupid Madrid took him up.. frowns and he is out of the UCL the reason they wanted him in the first place.. & hes not even gonna win the league..LOL
So they fire a manager that wins them the league for a manager that wins them nothing.
I mean.. he took off Robben at haft time 4 Marcelo a predominantly right back ? Match winner Robben in amazing form ? They deserve 2 be out the champions league. PS: play Huntelaar more often he is 1 of the best like top three strikers.. He knows how 2 finish in any situation he might not be the quickest or most technical but he knows when 2 chip..finesse..power near post/far post..daisy cut..round the keeper, etc. He has a wonderful football mind just like me. He got him at a bargain price 2 becuase Manu bought Berbs 4 30mil :S.. Hun is much better than Berb who is so freaking lazy & they got him for much less. (Alex needs 2 look outside the BPL when buying players more often & stop buying from rival clubs..also BPL strikers price tags are inflated)
In terms of Inter.. They sac a manager that wins them the league 3 in a row I think (not sure about this stat) just for Morinho(purposely spelt name) ? He is a good manager but WHY! WHY! do you sac a manager that is doing well at the club ='(. Just because he can't play flashy enough? Or bcuz he can't get you a UCL quick enough ? Do you think you could just say “Here's your salary, here's your budget(100mil), there are your players: get me a Champions League Trophy.” ??????????????????????? Again there is a less than 5% chance 2 win the trophy EVERY YEAR.. Look at Alex for example.. how long did it take him 2 win it ? & how much UCL's does he have in his tenure (23 years) at the club ? Research it if you don't know. So ya.. they both made wrong decisions 2 sac those managers cuz they both lost from it.. & I could bet my life savings that 1 of those two managers (W.R or J.M) will resign or get sac'd soon anywayz.

Gloves Man: Iker Casillas (Real Madrid; Spain)
It's been long detested between himself & Buffon.. but I personally think Casillas has the edge over Buffon now.. he is more mature(still young) & you know what they say.. Keepers get better with age.. he is a true shot stopper & has the best reflexes in the game of Keepers.
Right Back: Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid; Spain)
Undoubtedly the best.. Maicon is very good 2 but we need a young quick quad for the world eleven.. we are talking the best of the best here.. & Ramos has been around a while knows what hes doing very good in attack is still young good passer of the ball.. very nice traits as a footballer.. forgot 2 mention he has passion for the game like all these members I will list in this squad.. PASSION FOOTBALL VERY IMPORTANT
Center Halfs: CAPTAIN>>> John Terry (Chelsea; England)
N. Vidic (Manchester United; Serbia)
Not much 2 say here.. don't think any1 could question that Puyol is a good defender but he's much 2 late in his career for this stuff now.. he slowed down & is not as strong as he used 2 be will give away lots of careless free kicks against a big club, whereas, Vidic is young and very physical.. not the quickest but speed is canceled out when you have fullbacks & a keeper like those in this line-up.. also playing alongside another very physical player in J.T the only way behind this defense is over the top. J.T captain.
Left Back: Philipp Lahm (Bayern Munich; Germany)
No one can argue about this also.. please note that apart from being the best 12 in the sport of football these players come from each of the g8 teams in football :) yeah.. each big club has a member or two in the squad which is really kool.. they can say they have the best *insert position here* in the world each xD.
P.S: I doesn't matter if he's right footed I like seeing him cut inside and he's so quick on the ball.
Now, I notice they have these guys in positions that's on their work permit cards. That's fine but I think we all know that these players play better in different positions! Am I the only one that notices this ??? Ronaldo undoubtedly plays better on the left flank. As a matter of fact its best 2 have right footers on the left and vice versa.. let their stronger foot be on the inside after all the objective of the game is 2 score so they need 2 be headed towards goal.. crosses are good but we all know that it's not the best means of attacking prowess because its success rate is not as high.
So my line-up is about players playing where they are most effective unlike the UEFA squad.
Right Wing/Right Midfield: Lionel Messi (Barcelona; Argentina)
You don't have to play Messi as a striker 2 have him score.. this is where he feels comfortable and cutting in from way out here is what makes football exciting and what makes us love Messi.. also he has really improved in going both ways and is very quick for his build & size. Also he is the best player in the world ON CURRENT FORM right now xP.. Best player being Ronaldo of course CR7 haters don't reply I don't wanna hear it.
Center Mid (right): Steven Gerrard (Liverpool; England)
In this quad Gerrard has 2 play a little bit more defensive but it's a roll he knows much of.. end 2 end player very good attacking prowess very good vision & passing range.. every team needs a clinical passer for those killer passes whether over the top or 70 yard cross fielder or even the daisy cutter defense splitters. Gerrard is the man for that vision he will control play in the middle.
Center Attacking Mid (left): Ricardo Kaka (AC Milan; Brazil)
He won world player of the year just before current & you guys seemed 2 have forgotten about him. Being world player of the year qualifies you for the World XI team & Kaka is right up there with the best when it comes 2 attacking midfielders.. his passing isn't 2 bad & his chemistry with his teammates is good also.. NO Question about his speed which is imperative in this squad.
Left Wing/Left Midfield: Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United; Portugal)
Not much 2 say here either best player in the world if I start talking about him I won't finish so lets just leave it here XD. Also captain of the Portugal squad which is a great achievement at his age. On FIFA 09 they have him as the captain of the world squad.. not bad but I personally think that captains should either be: long standing players in the squad(example Gary Neville at Manchester), Experience in the game even if relatively newer 2 current squad than other players(example Gallas -before- at Arsenal), Age/Caps, Presence in squad and should generally be Center Backs or Center Mids. Some1 who can control the squad from the back or the center.. both even better. Therefore justifying my choice for Terry as captain (I'm a Manchester fan so this isn't biased)
Now, again, a very interesting part of the selection.. the part where people from different countries can't seem to agree on.. :P it is very interesting but I think that we can't argue with these two guys up front. Before I list them let me teach you guys something about football.
In a 4-4-2 formation you need a big physical striker two play on the line.. this helps with clearances bringing down the ball.. holding up the ball.. releasing onto a supporting striker who will be playing a little deeper to help out the midfield when pressuring around the middle of the field.. L. Toni is a good example of this kind of striker.. good for getting on the end of crosses also.
Then we have a clinical striker the one who is really a striker & not just a Center Forward.
He is very good technically and very quick.. vision & finishing is no less than 95. Again Huntelaar, Rooney are good examples of these kind of strikers. Very good in 1 on 1 situations.
So this is how it's normally done, or suppose 2 be done to have an all round team.
Now here are they:
Left Deep Striker: Fernando Torres (Liverpool; Spain)
Again no one can argue this & this guy is just brilliant a real goal all rounder.. as I said he will be playing just a little deeper than his partner in offense because he is better running at defenders. (not that he isn't good back 2 goal) He is the best STRIKER in the world and at his age is very good also.. He was captain of Atletico Madrid at just 18 because they saw the potential.. he did well there and is a hero at the club.. just like how my candidate to replace him (Huntelaar) was at Ajax (phenomenal scoring record with Ajax & the Dutch National.. 75 goals in 3 seasons in the league.. average arithmetic mean 25 per season.. never mind the National) So Torres will take this striking role alongside…
Right Striker (out & out): Zlatan Ibrahimovic' (Inter Milan; Sweden)
Thus completing my squad.. he's the big striker 2 get on the end of crosses we need, to hold up the ball, very good vision for passes as well as goal.. Incredible strength although he gets called alot for fouls. Inter is also one of the best squads in the world so of course at least one of their players should be in the World XI. ZLATAN!

I disagree with this team of last season, messi didn`t do much last season only at the latter stages. Torres scored 33 goals and ribery is the best on the left undoubtedly. You people obviously don`t watch bayern cuz lahm is much better than evra, you are all biased manu fans. Vidic over terry and gerrard over fabregas.With those changes the team is good to go.

Also he does not prefer to play on the right check your stats again sir. He is registered as a right winger and that's because that's where he played for Sporting.
