Brazil is overrated

Brasil is #1. You are just jealous because your team is probably America or something sad.

No, I’m an Azzurri fan. When is the last time Brazil did anything spectacular? They almost lost to Canada for crying out loud!

That was months ago, Italy got annihilated in the EURO.
Barely made it out of the group stage!
You are saying Italy is better than Brazil because they won the world cup last? Ahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Italy is screwed they have a sad team, they barely qualified for the EURO.

Um, what teams are you talking about? Italy WON the most difficult qualifying group for Euro 2008 while losing only one match in the process. At Euro they made it out of the most difficult group and lost in a shootout to the eventual champions, and currently the number 1 ranked team. Over the past few years Italy has defeated teams like Portugal, Ukraine, Scotland. What has Brazil done? Well, let’s see. They lost to Venezuala and Paraguay and Portugal. They barely beat Sweden and Ireland and Switzerland. These are all rather embarassing results. Don’t you feel silly now?
Gremio | August 16th, 2008 @ 1:08 pm | | |
Why do I feel silly? We have just advanced to the semi-finals.
Where is Italy? Lost to Belgium?
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAAH

The indication of how good a team is comes from overall performance, not individual games. Brazil is playing well in the olympics so far, but they have yet to play a team that is actually good (and, for that matter, to actually win the gold medal). Italy’s loss to Belgium doesn’t change the fact that Italy’s performance over the past several years has greatly exceeded that of Brazil. I mean, seriously, who loses to Venezuela?

Funny how you waited until Italy got a poor result in order to defend yourself from my comment that was made over a week ago; almost as if you don’t have any other material to defend your team with…

Pretty sure Brazil just got hammered by Argentina 3-0. So Brazil still doesn’t have a gold medal, lost to the first good team they played, and has had rather poor results for the past few years. Overrated? Definitely.
Italy is not the perfect team, but at least they don’t embarass themselves and then claim they are the best in the world. When they lost to the Netherlands in Euro 2008, they were missing their best player, and Holland’s first goal was arguably offside. Luca Toni scored a perfectly legitimate goal against Romania that was deemed offside. Italy went on to beat France and then lose in a shootout to the eventual champions. You call that a poor performance?
I rest my case.

Brazil’s goal was arguably onside and they had a stupid referee. He is Uruguayan and gave us two freaking uncalled red cards, only on the first one would I have given a yellow.

We have 5 world cups, the best overall performance in the history of football.
I rest my case.

I do have a life you know, I was vacationing with my sister and cousins.
Viva Selecao Brasileira!

um, newsflash buddy, you are NOT currently the reigning world champions and it has been several years since you held that title. My original comment that Brazil IS overrated is based on the current team, which is why I said “Brazil IS overrated,” and not, “Brazil WAS overrated.” The current Brazilian team does not deserve the rather high rankings that it is still receiving. All Brazil fans seem to still be stuck on past glory that ended over half a decade ago.

Uh huh, and I suppose that it is just a coincidence that your vacation happened to end on the same day that Italy got it’s first poor result at the tournament.
