Mikhail | June 18th, 2008 @ 6:32 pm
Russia played their second best game at the tournament. The best would be against Holland!
HollandFan4life | June 18th, 2008 @ 6:34 pm
Holland should be worried, Ruissia is playing great, but Russia should also be worried! Cause Holland is playing magnificant!
LeFooty | June 18th, 2008 @ 6:40 pm
The main thing for every team is , do not under estimate the opponent team because it will make the team over confident.
:d

I’m a Russian fan and I’ll enjoy Holland – Russia game. Thanks so much Guus, thanks to you Advocaat! You Dutch guys are great for Russia! We love Holland and it’s super exciting to play such a splendid team in such long awaited quater-final!
If you guys win, you gonna become champions! :-)
nohomo | June 18th, 2008 @ 7:16 pm
Aww look at you being all homophobic. “I love Guus and I love Advocaat”.
Can’t you just say Dick? /:)
nohomo | June 18th, 2008 @ 7:19 pm
And Pavlyuchenko is a Russian Toni or whatnot. We’ll see him waste his moments while Holland are going to be fruitful.
Chelsefan | June 18th, 2008 @ 7:40 pm
It was one of the best games I have ever seen!:)>-
john | June 18th, 2008 @ 8:21 pm
The dutch are going to tear through Russia.
Mikhail | June 18th, 2008 @ 10:16 pm
We just call Dick Advocaat simply “Advokat” and Guus Hiddink “Goos”. But that’s a good point, he’s name is sure cocky ;-) Gus said “it’s not enough for him”, he wants to beat the crap out of his own country squad. What a man he is!
Also watch Toni and Co (- Pirlo and Gattuso) getting pounded by Spain. Coming soon. :-)

RUSSIA ALL THE WAY:d/ THIS WILL BE BEST MATCH ON TV RUSSIA VS HOLLAND:o, RUSSIA WILL BE VICTORIOUS:)>-

rossijaaaa
rossiijaaaa
rossijaaaa
but if pavlyuchenko will waste moments with his colleges with holland, then we r pretty **** up, but if we consider that hollands defence isnt same as its attack, game could go both ways, depends who scores first
rassija vpered!
but CROatia – Hollannd (russia) is final..
David Langham | June 18th, 2008 @ 11:15 pm
Arsharvin and Pavlyuchenko Vs Sneijder & Van De Vaart. yeah I’ll watch that. :d
Bigbird | June 18th, 2008 @ 11:53 pm
Russia played good today. They played exciting and pretty, kinda like the Dutch so it should be a fun game to watch. However sweden is a 2 or 3 man team and the oldest team in the tournament so the netherlands should be a real test.
Still a Ibra fan!!!

Russia played a great game, as Holland did so far, so I am really looking forward to Saturday!
s | June 19th, 2008 @ 12:22 am
Roman pavlyuchenko must be the top scorer of euro 2008.He miss many change to score a goal.I hope he can score a lot of goal againts netherland because netherland will score many goal too.
gezbrady | June 19th, 2008 @ 2:01 am
Well Done Russia! what a positive game they played. Even 1-0 up they still attacked and some great chances it really should have been more. Gus has the golden touch, or so it seems… Holland 4th 1998 World Cup, South Korea 4th 2002 World Cup, Australia 2nd Round 2006 World Cup and now Russia into the Quarters of Euro 2008.

Where did that performance come from? Unbelievably one sided! Brilliant!
wijs1 | June 19th, 2008 @ 2:49 am
You guys are forgetting to mention that Hiddink is Dutch and knows the Dutch players very well. This can give Russia a slight advantage…even still, Holland will take it.

I can see why it was hard for England to qualify, Second Choice Steve, sure, but both Russia and Croatia are playing out of their skins in this tournament.
Kukubuku | June 19th, 2008 @ 3:34 am
Great performance! BUT, how many chanced he needs this Pavlyuchenko?

Last year we won 4-1 against the same Russia with Guus Hiddink.. Russia is playing nice football and i respect them and Hiddink but we will still win i think ;) We are used to Italy, France and Romania so if we can beat all of them with more then 2 goals difference we can surely beat every team on this EC. Only teams that i think come close are Spain, Portugal and Italy of course and maybe Croatia
Shell | June 19th, 2008 @ 6:19 am
Everybody is saying holland has a bad defence, which might be true. But with the great v/d Sar and the strikers also defending as a team the defending will be easier. Don’t forget we are nr.1 on fairplay this championship until now and we have a 9-1 goalratio (against france, italy and romania) So that says enough about the defending of this squad
dsl | June 19th, 2008 @ 7:34 am
it’s funny because I believe this match will be more “interesting” at least than any of the other Dutch matches because they are playing a team with a similar style vs teams that play a generally more defensive-minded game from their group. However I don’t see them losing. It will be fun to watch though.
As for this match, very well done by Russia. They really outplayed the Swedes and it was quite suprising to me because if someone asked me earlier where I would put my money I would have said Sweden but not anymore…

I’d like to see more games of russia and holland against other teams, too bad they meet so soon.
Hendri | June 19th, 2008 @ 9:37 am
Awesome!
Guus Hiddink, survived with every national team the groupphase.
Netherlands in ‘98(semi final), South Korea in ‘02(final), Australia in ‘04(Quarter final but they deserved more against Italy) and now with Russia in ‘06. That’s not an accident! My deepest RESPECT for this man! Again, what a suberb effort!
Perhaps biggest trainer ever, every land he visit makes it to the finals! Holland watch out! Cause the way their playing is unpredictable! Perhaps the same as Holland, great combiniations and demonstrations of counter attack!
It is going to be tough for Holland, that’s for sure!
Well done, Guus!
nohomo | June 19th, 2008 @ 10:08 am
:d Are you saying he has made it to the quarters of Euro 2004 with Australia? And I’m pretty sure S Korea weren’t in the 02 final.
I also think it’s 2008, thought the name of the tournament gave it away in some form.
Akuma | June 19th, 2008 @ 10:56 am
Yes to be fair Russia and Croatia both have a lot of desire to win and are teams that would never give up easily.
danman | June 19th, 2008 @ 1:24 pm
It should be Netherlands in ‘98 WC semifinals (awesome team, lost to Brazil on penalties), Korea in ‘02 WC semifinals (beat Spain and Italy controversially, lost to Germany), Australia in the knockout stages of ‘06 WC (beaten by Grosso “dive” according to Australians), and Russia in ‘08 Euros. Fabulous record.

i wish i could have seen this game live… those goals were pretty (especially compared to italy’s)
Liverpool FAN | June 19th, 2008 @ 7:26 pm
what can i say..i am student in MOscow..and ultimately grateful to be fan of russia squad..their midfielder is totally great in controlling the attacking mood of russia..with semak the MDF..and a lot of teamwork was showed by the russian team..no surprise they will go far in this tournament..same like croatia..their teamwork play just outstanding..team with the highest teamwork most likely can beat the team with a lot of superstar…van der sar shuld be ready..Russia will absolutely passing the ball around him to get pass him..
