They put almost all their B-players on (Van Persie and Robben) were the only real talent there, and they STILL managed to win, man… what does it take for Holland to lose?

Romania lost It simply because there is HUGE difference between being a good (as Romania is) team and being a team able to win when it matter (As Italy).

I’m romanian and I’ve very dissappointed with how Romania played this match and all around the whole championship. Too much defending, lack of creativity and ball control, lack of finishing. I hope they improve if they wish to make any progress in WC2010.

Holland won and scored twice with a A2 team of B team….where France and Italy couldn’t win. So it’obvious who’s the best at this moment…
Young players, creative players(sneijder, v/d vaart, van persie) with fighters(kuijt, de jong, boulharouz)..perfect combination.

Nice to read all the reactions. Yeah, our team is doing well at the moment. Much better than in the qualification (with the 4-3-3 system, it didnt worked at all, Van Basten saw that really late), but the friendly games towards the European Championship where a lot better (like the one against Croatia).
Hope we will win the title again, like in ‘88.

I’m an Italian fan but I feel sorry for Romania. Over their 3 games Romania played the better football than Italy played in their 3. Also, I don’t see how CFC is so sure Netherlands will face Spain. More than likely, Italy will face Spain.

Holland is really good but even though they played in the groupe of the death, they’re going to have more trouble against a real opposition (like Portugal, Spain or Germany)

I honestly don’t see how portugal spain or germany are better then france or italy :P Germany sucks, Portugal isn’t as good as with figo and maniche (when they are annoying and provocative like on wc2006) and spain is ok, but they didn’t really convince me especially against the Swedes (Torres?.. didn’t really see him.. and Sergio Ramos played very clumsy)

Netherlands in ‘98(semi final), South Korea in ‘02(final), Australia in ‘04(Quarter final but they deserved more against Italy) and now with Russia in ‘06. That’s not an accident! My deepest RESPECT for this man! Again, what a suberb effort!
Perhaps biggest trainer ever, every land he visit makes it to the finals! Holland watch out! Cause the way their playing is unpredictable! Perhaps the same as Holland, great combiniations and demonstrations of counter attack!
It is going to be tough for Holland, that’s for sure!
