gerrards free kick against aston villa was further out than ronaldo’s, and it was a match winner in the 90th or so minute on the road as opposed to being a meaningless stat padder at home. how is that not on there? also, any goal against derby shouldnt count.

I dunno guys… i tinhk they’re both good… but Ronaldo’s was by far better in terms of technique… i mean all rochemback did was curl it… any football pro can curl a ball.. .but not many can swurve it like Cristiano Ronaldo… and yeah i agree with that… that bacheel was good… but not good enough for top 10… i mean yeah it went thru defenders legs and stuff… carson is just ain’t good enough haha i mean if it was Petr Cech or something… SAVE… so yeah… WOOOT!!!! Gerrards free kick against Villa should be in there. As someone earlier mentioned, the time in the game it was scored and being away, not many players would be able to deliver.. but there were alot of goals this season that would easily qualify for a spot in the top 10 of the season.

i think we shouldn’t question the choices as these could be picked out by professional pundits, they all have been assesed by not juz the way the goal was scored but the teamwork and moment of brilliance as well. I think ronaldo’s free kick was the best as the ball dipped with amazing speed, it completely stunned james. And he has proven it again and again by scoring in similar fashion showing it was not a fluke. goals by young and petrov were great, but can they do it again?

Ronaldo’s backheel is not that special, loads of good players have scored one – Scholes did at one point. I seem to remember that Kevin Nolan’s volley lost out to it, which is a ridiculous decision based on Ronaldo’s star status. Best goal by far was Tevez’s, the interplay between him and Rooney was incredible and required real footballing intelligence rather than just hammering the ball as many of these are (although those are great goals as well – just like to see a good bit of play rather than a flash of inspiration).

Ronaldo’s freekick was simply amazing.
His backheel wasn’t as original or hard as you would think. There are more and more goals like that. Murphy’s goal was sweet.

I actually thought Adebayors was the best, followed by Ronaldo’s free kick. I really do think Roanldo’s back heel was not as good as babels in the champions league still he did not recieve any parise for scoring the goal.

In this case, these goals are only the ones scored during league play, not any other competition.

This a BBC clip, so if you want to complain about someone not including your favorite goal, complain to them.

i think adebayors should win considering his goal was against rivals spurs. and arsenal were losing that game 1-0 until adebayor scored to tie, then fabregas, and then adebayor scored again to top it off. it was a tremendous game

Adebayors goal was a little closely related to Henry but probably not as great. I think Adebayors should have won it and Ronaldo’s freekick should have been third. Look at his technique, the ball does not even spin. its pure power up and down into the top corner.Ive never seen anyone score a goal like that, but I bet someone probably has already done Steven Gerrards. Anyone want to bet? To top it off his celebration was pretty cool.

The BBC are not too fond of L’pool. A lot has to do with the massive protest during a live FA Cup match in 2007 against Arsenal, when the Kop and much of the ground held a six minute long protest during the start of the match. They were protesting the BBC because they had hired that **** Kelvin MacKenzie. Because it was a live match, they couldn’t do a thing about it. The six minutes is significant because that was how long it took for the match to be abandoned during the FA Cup semi final at Hillsborough in 1989. There used to be a great clip from the BBC live feed that night on youtube, but I can’t find it anymore. It’s so loud that Motson and Lawro couldn’t ignore it.

People saying its a rubbish comilation, grow up. It is a top ten, there are always going to be great goals missing when there are only ten slots.

I like the way people are having a go at Ronaldo’s back heel being in here, didn’t see many complaining when Thierry Henry did the same a few seasons back against Charlton when it was up for GOTS.

I’m suprised more people haven’t said Adebayor’s goal should be the winner, I think it’s brilliant.

Ronaldo’s backheel was so overrated. Wasn’t that great, and I agree that Gerrard and Torres should’ve been in the Top 10. No arguments about Ronaldo’s free kick though… what a goal.
