How was Beckham’s a fluke?

I guess it wasn’t a ‘fluke’ but it was a last ditch effort from KC. That wouldn’t have happened in normal play.

David Beckham then and David Beckham now might as well be completely different people. If you think he could still score from that far out with the keeper not so far off his line, you’re living in a dream world.

he would not have scored from that far without it being the end of the game. We have seen him lob from beyond half before but this is more like Xabi Alonso vs Luton, just flawless long range accuracy.
I was thinking “surely he isn’t going to try that..” well taken though.

you know whats funny, beckham shot was so weak. although it was accurate, any EPL player could have easily made it without even a bounce. although in this low level (MLS) they consider it a beauty

What’s the point in trying to hit it as hard you can into an empty net? The man did what was needed and it secured the game. Don’t know why people feel the need to find negativity in everything! It was impressive and not as easy as it looks, end of

I agree. But it’s good to see Becks score a nice goal. People above please watch Becks’s games back in EPL or La Liga and say he is not good. You guys have no idea. Becks is an amazing player.

Why should Beckham have to bomb the shot into the back of the net if all he needed to do was get the ball in the right direction????????
MLS isn’t all that great but give Beckham a break, jezus! Too many haters in this spectator sport.

Yeah. I tried to paste the link to Alonso’s goal against Newcastle. He hit it with his right foot and it crossed the goal line without bouncing once.

Hate to say it, esp. coming frm a US national team admirer, but some of the defending out there was amateurish to say the least, esp. from Abel Xavier, hahaha! just look at that lame block near the end before his teammate saved his *** by clearing off the line…a bit like schoolboy football, but that was still cl*** from Beckham, that loft.
oh yes, and i have a feeling england are going to lose to US again tonight.
You guys have a team that would definitely shock some complacent divas, read: England, and I’m sure MLS will improve in due time, although it never hurts to send more players to Europe like Dempsey (a personal fave) and Johnson.

You know what, I dont understand why people always insist mls is a low level league. If it can produce players like dempsey then what the **** are you all talking about. I think the level is great its just the media and pretty much america’s fault its not more known. I mean look at Beckham can you take anything away from his game against US and he plays in the mls. In addition that goal is pretty nice and thats that, its the longest Ive seen. It seems every one wants to find something bad to say about beckham. I think hes okay because he made a name from his own kind of play, crossing. You know just liike Ronaldo and his dribbling.

and dude making it from ones half without a freaking bounce. If a player can do that (with pressure mind you) in a normal match then im a monkeys uncle.

The MLS is a **** league at this point, the attacking play looks half decent but that’s only because the defending is hilariously poor. Dempsey is nothing special, so I’m not sure what your point is there.
Arsenal | May 30th, 2008 @ 3:51 pm | Reply |

If any player can score in the premier league they are good. Also Dempsey played in MLS and score goals, he played in premiership and scored goals, so really how can you tell the level of defence. Chelsea came to America to play the LA Galaxy. If their defending is hilariously poor then why couldnt Chelsea score more than one goal? Maybe their attack is hiariously poor. THere is a difference between being on the field and standing among the crowd to say, you know what, English league is better than Italian or Italian league is better than english. Go down there and play then comment that this league is poor. !CASE CLOSED!

I never said he wasn’t a decent player, I said he’s nothing special.
I can tell the level of the defense by using my eyes.
Or maybe because they had 11 platers behind the ball.
If you know anything about football then you can judge the level of play you’re watching without being down there. If you couldn’t then football fans would have nothing to talk about.
Nerd.

it wasnt the first time beckham scored from half line..
watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwiTeNrk9jY&feature=related
and xabi alonso has done it too.. watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SDyVuALqj6c
and beckham is an exceptional talent.. he wasnt just a free-kick player.. of course, his free kick is amazing.. but if he only can do free kick, no way he could get noticed when he first sign up for manchester united football academy.. and without other skills, there is no way beckham would have come this far: getting number 10 jersey in Man United, getting number 7 later on (cantona’s number), going to real madrid, etc.. we should give more credits to beckham.. and he is an effective player; you dont have to run around to be a good player.. and besides, he is getting older.. being that old, a lot of players are retired already.. giggs, scholes, and gary neville (his teammates from manchester united (all of them are still in man united)) are about to retire already.. and yet, beckham is still playing full matches and is still doing international games with england..
he deserves more than what people think; thats the point im trying to make..
