Zenit were playing like the 02/03 Arsenal. Their passing and teamwork is the best in the world right now. You cant see Manchester, Arsenal and Barcelona playing this type of football. Is only Zenit playing it! Im an Arsenal fan, i got shocked when I see their play. The second goal was tremendous. The passing and teamwork, not everyteam can do it. But they did it for many times!

Out of all the sides playing in Europe including the Champion’s League, Zenit have by far been the most entertaining. I am very glad they won this trophy. They strongly deserve it.
One thing I can say though is that I will be very surprised if Arshavin stays there next year. I imagine one of the top European sides that desperately need wingers will pick him up (i.e. pay special attention to Liverpool, Milan, etc.).
DZVlad | May 15th, 2008 @ 3:31 am
wooot! Rangers PWNED!
No, seriously, the way Zenit raped Bavaria in semi finals it was clear who’s going to win!
Gratz Zenit! they’re the best!

how many of you actually watched the game?
it was pretty close..
Rangers deserved the win i think- they were the better team in the 2nd half..
also Rangers put out great teams too – sporting lisbon/forentina are great teams..
well played to Zenit too tho, they played well and also did amazing to get to that position..

well, to be honest, Zenbit had a well deserved win and they did a great job …not like Rangers, they really played to defend themselves…very bad…
Ricious Man | May 15th, 2008 @ 1:07 pm
caz…
I think you watched a total different match…
how could you say it was pretty close, when Zenit in first half had 60% of the ball and had the most chances, and even after scoring the 1st goal they still pushed to score another goal..
and you call that close…lolololol
Darren. Scotland | May 15th, 2008 @ 3:22 pm
What, no plan B from Walter Smith? Most of Scotland spent the night walking the streets, feeding the wildlife and generally feeling safe as rangers fans were all in Manchester or indoors watching the game. They said that Zenit were racist but I think its actually the Rangers players. None of them would go within 50 yards of Darcheville. Football wins!
caz | May 15th, 2008 @ 3:45 pm
yes 1st half Zenit had 60% of the possesion.. but that is the way rangers have been playing in all thier games in europe – defensive then counter attacking.. so they were almost letting them attack, in a way.. though in the 2nd half they went out to score..
After the first goal – which i add came soon after 3 good chances for rangers, and 1 for zenit.. Rangers pushed for a goal – obviously.. they put on 4 attackers.. Zenit got the 2nd goal in a counter-attack.. which was a risk Rangers had to take.. so yeah i do call that pretty close..

Good observation… Arshavin is truly a great player, but i doubt that he will leave Zenit. He is great in the team he is, yes he is talented, but if he changes teams even to one of the top teams of the world, his brightness will decrease, like it happened to Shevchenko when he switched to Chelsea. Look how great he was in milan… that is where he should stay.

“Everton beat Zenit, and Zenit won the Cup.”
For all those saying Zenit were the most entertaining team in the competition, watch the highlights of Everton’s 8-1 aggregate demolition of SK Brann and the 3-1 over Larissa.
Maybe next year.

Caz your a ******* retard. Rangers are the most boring team ever. How in the **** can you say they deserved a win? Zenit deserved about 10 goals. Rangers tactics are defend for the whole game and sneak a measly goal. Thats some ******* bullshit in my opinion. You clearly no nothing about football. It was the most 1 sided uefa cup final iv ever witnessed. Rangers didnt even deserved to get to the semis let alone ******* win the thing. There best player is Nacho Novo who is shocking – take his miss at the end for an example.
caz | May 19th, 2008 @ 6:10 am
lol.. yeah they were the underdogs, but Walter Smith(their manager) has used this defend tactic to beat teams that are much better than them- why not? if it brings success and works against teams that are way better than them.. yeah it isn’t great to watch but really i don’t mind that much coz its good to see a scottish team doing well in europe (im scottish btw).. but anyway.. i wouldn’t say it was 1 sided in the 2nd half-game could easily have gone ethier way..
and no i would probably say Carlos Cueler is there best player- amazing defender..

YES ZENIT.without pogrebnyak we still can win
