TYPICAL BRAZILIAN, VERY TALENTED, NO DISCIPLINE. TO BAD HE’S GOING TO BE FORGOTEN LIKE MANY OTHERS. THE BEST BRAZILIAN MIDFIELDER IN THE WORLD RIGHT NOW IS DIEGO FROM WERDER BREMEN, TOO BAD HE DOES NOT PLAY IN A MUCH BIGGER LEAGUE..
Matt | May 10th, 2008 @ 4:33 pm
He’s just like the previous brazilian prototypes. He’ll reach full potential, then just lose it when the glory brings out ego. he’s a bit better then the previous brazilian model (ronaldo) while being able to hold player of the year for 2 consecutive years, but it looks like he’s past his prime.
to my understanding, ronaldinho is in talks with ac milan.

How can you say he is the best player in the world? He is talented, yes, the best, no way near it. Messi beats players way easier than ronaldihno, and messi isnt even the best.
Without a doubt, Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player in the world. He is like, one of the only players (messi the other) that I would bet a house on to beat his marker 9/10 times. Ronaldo has far more skill, and far more pace.
Cristiano is 23, in his last two seasons he has got 66 goals, 28 assists (102 games). Ronaldinho has 48 goals and 27 assists in his best two years (101 games.)
So yeh, dont say ronaldinho is the best player in the world, coz in his two best seasons (06/07, 07/08) ronaldo still eclipsed him in all areas of the game. And ronaldo is 5 years younger. Ronaldinhos best season was when he was 26/27.. Ronaldos when he was 21. Case closed.
FMC | May 11th, 2008 @ 12:24 am
Yea, I agree with Josh. This guy is NOT the best in the world. He is done. There are so many players palying so much better than him right now…Cristiano Ronaldo, Kaka, Messi, Ribery, Ibrahimovic to name a few.
Couldnt believe people thought this guy was gonna be one of the best players of all time, give me a break. His collapse started in World Cup 06 and hes been falling ever since.

abby | May 11th, 2008 @ 1:05 am
everybody has his time. it is so easy to critisize him now, when he won the world footballer of the year 2 times, where were the critics. C. ronaldo is good but he would never be Ronaldinho. Most of the time C. ronaldo is not a big game player while Ronaldinho i s a top class big game player.
Josh | May 11th, 2008 @ 4:33 am
Abby, do you know what your talking about? Ronaldinhos best two years on the pitch are 06/07 and 07/08. And ronaldo beat him, both years.
Ronaldinho has some nice tricks, yes. But Cristiano is a step above, a very big step. Both Ronaldinho and Ronaldo are very skillful, and can perform tricks at high speeds which most of us can only dream of, but there is a difference. Ronaldo is faster, ALOT faster. Not just in running, but performing his tricks as well. Half the time he does tricks to beat people they end up on the ground because he turns them inside out.
Honestly, how you can say Ronaldinho is better than Ronaldo, I dont know. 109 goals since 2001, when Ronaldo has scored 101 goals since 2003, and is 5 years younger. And you say Ronaldo cant deliver in big games? Portugal in Euro qualifiers – 8 goals. 2007 Champs League – 7 goals. Not to mention Ronaldo has had 106 shots on target in this years premiership, and scoring 30 goals, means every 3.2 shots on goal goes in. Consistancy?
Ronaldinho scores some amazing goals BUT he lacks so much consistancy.

josh, in your surprisingly ignorant rage, i think you might have made a mistake. ronaldinho’s best seasons we 06-07 & 07-08??? had the world had the misfortune of enduring your presence a few years before 1998, you would have been old enough to have watched ronadinho in 04-05 and 05-06. Now, I’m as huge a fan of ronaldo as the next guy, but even I don’t think he is yet as good as ronaldinho was then (note the use of the word yet).
next time, if indeed we must endure a next time, please do a bit of research before posting. or limit the subject of your bile to events after you were taken off the baby bottle.

Yeah Josh you should do a little more research. Ronaldinho’s best seasons 06-07 & 07-08 lol First it’s not only about the goals and the assists. Ronaldinho only scored 9 goals in 04-05 but he had an amazing season. In 05-06 he got a standing ovation in Santiago Bernabeu! You know how many players had that?! Not many! I’s easy to talk Ronaldinho down now, when C Ronaldo and Man Utd is playing amazing football, but 2/3 years ago there was no doubt that Barcelona and Ronaldinho were the best, and the critics didn’t speak then. If he goes to Milan (a serious, professional club) his game will step up again.
And all that talk about C Ronaldo being 23… this might be the best season he’s gonna have in his carreer. Some players peak earlier. Ronaldo for example had his best season (and actually of the best seasons any player has had) when he was 20 and in Barcelona.

YoElRey | May 11th, 2008 @ 1:12 pm
indeed, 04-05,05-06-seasons were by far the best.
Keep in mind that ronaldinho has another position on the pitch. Ronaldo has a more attacking function, sometimes even plays as striker…no wonder he has more goals.
Anyway, goal and assist-count doesn’t say it all. You need to look at styleas well, i would prefer ronaldinho…but of course that’s just my opinion

I agree that he has to move on. But why weren’t people saying he was overrated two years ago, when he was the best in he world no doubt? He had a **** season, but people know what he’s capable of, and he may or may not reach those standards again, but he was the most exciting player in the world, as Ronaldo and Messi are today. Ronaldo may even have a **** season next year, who knows. It’s hard to keep high standards of performance over the course of an entire career, especially when your team isn’t winning.

What defines the best player in the world, is someone who can change the game in an instant. And by changing the game, you need goals/assits.
I seriously laughed when you said his best season was 04/05.. 9 goals, 0 assists? Wow he really made big impacts in the game LOL. Just because a player is skillful, doesnt mean anything. Its just typical brazil showboating. They do tricks, but dont influence the game in a big way.
I will argue with you until you give up, because I know Im right. A) On paper, Ronaldo is already better than Ronaldinho. B) Ronaldo is tipped to get Player of the Year, and hes ONLY 23. C) You watch compilations of Ronaldo and Ronaldinho on youtube (not the nike commercial ads, because most of that is fake), and you come back and tell me Ronaldinho is better. :-”
Ohh and by the way, United won the premiership thanks to a Ronaldo penalty getting their goals underway, funny how a midfielder is getting golden boot in Premship and is tied top goal scorer in Champs league, with the chance to be top scorer there as well. Was Ronaldinho ever golden boot or top goal scorer of Champs league?

Then I should give up because there is no possibility of arguing with people like you. And I dont plan arguing about which footballer is the best because discussion on that topic is simply lame..
Who is the best player? I dont know: different times, different teams… Ronaldinho was best 3-4 years ago, Ronaldo is best now. But he needs more seasons at high level and he should win a world cup, until then, Zidane is the best ever…Ronaldo and Ronaldinho could fight for place 2 and 3

did she/he just say goals and assists dont matter………..LOLOLOLOL…….
Without goals or assists how do you win………. Showboating in the middle of the park?…..Thats not football, thats FUTSAL….
And you ppl stop talking rubbish about Ronaldo dosnt perform in big games cause he carries Portugal…… Sure he cries alot………but thats called passion……….. thats something Ronaldihno cant spell….
Sure Ronaldihno would make you want to watch Barca and he scored some decisive goals is Big matches…… but if football was only about players with tricks……. Who only scored in BIG matches (9 goals was all dinho scored [04/05])……then im guessing that Tevez is the greatest player ever………… He has tricks….. Hes scored in big matches, all he needs now is some locks like Ronaldihno so he can satisfy all you fools…
I’m not saying Ronaldo is completely better than Ronaldinho… but 41 goals…8-|.. Can ronaldinho even count that far….
i say… DARREN FLETCHER IS THE BEST PLAYER IN THE WORLD!
Josh | May 12th, 2008 @ 3:10 am
LOL ‘DARE’. Actually, I am from New Zealand. I have followed football since I was 5, even did two years in england on a football scholorship, so I know what I am talking about. Tricks Ronaldo cant even dream of? I would love to see them have a skills competition, then you Dinho lovers would shut up.
I think Fletcher_Fan had it right, if you want showboating, watch futsal. If you want someone who can showboat at high speeds, do amazing tricks, and score many goals in a season, and counting assits, watch united play football.
Dont know why you think Ronaldinho is the best player in the world, why was Pele rated best player in the world at his time? He had tricks, he had speed, he GOT GOALS. If Pele scored 1/3 the goals he did, people may not remember him as the best of his time.
As for me, I would rather someone with speed, ALOT of skill, and goal scoring abilities, as well as presense and awareness in setting up goals, rather than someone who showboats in the middle and scores a few goals here and there.
If you say Ronaldo doesnt impact united in a big way, take away his 41 goals for this season, and you tell me where Man United would be on the premiership table + Champs league. Ok? Good. -rolls eyes-

Right,
No more discussion about Ronaldinho and Ronaldo for me because i just don’t know who’s the best.
But saying that Maradone or Pele or Cruijf is better then Zidane?
U obviously heard that from ur mom and dad, and from a lot of other people who watch football and consider themselves experts..
First of all: Messi scored the same goal then Maradona last season (the one where he runs half the pith), only messi ran a greater distance and did it faster (dont believe me: look it up)
Second: I have watched pele, maradona, cruiff, eusebio and others play great games, do great moves and score incredible goals. I have also seen them play against defenders that gave them too much space, made stupid mistakes, could never keep their man and were simply slow.
The game has changed, it got quicker, harder, more difficult. Transfer me 50 years in time and i could have been the best player of my national team ever (which is belgium, so that is not very hard as u can imagine).
Messi, Zidane, Ronaldo and Ronaldinho, they do’nt get space, instead they got 2 defenders watching them all the time, they get to deal with rough tackles, pushing and shirt-pulling..still they pull off incredible goals and moves.
I would love to see Pele (whom everyone considers the best of all time) play against defenders as Ferdinand and Vidic, Terry, Puyol, Ramos, Maldini and others…he would not touch one ball…
So being the best player of this time is being the best player of all time—>Zidane

Not only did he and his team play amazing football, but they won trophies and that’s what people remember. But he still had an amazing season in 04/05. And 0 assists? I actually bothered to look up how many assists he had that season just to make you happy since you’re such a statistic freak, and he had 14. And in 05/06 he had 18. But how do you rate a player like Iniesta or Pirlo? For me they’re two of the best players in the world and although they don’t get alot of goals they’re a huge influence in their teams. And i don’t need to watch compilations in youtube, i actually watch the games.
Look, i’m portuguese, so of course i like Ronaldo, and i have already said that he’s, along with Messi, the most exciting player in the world today. But that doesn’t mean that Ronaldinho wasn’t the best 3 years ago. All this nonsense about the best ever is pointless. There have been lots of amazing players and everybody has their favorite. My favorite player ever is Michael Laudrup! Most people won’t mention him in the best 11 ever.
Oh how ’bout this for a statistic: in 02-03, Thierry Henry scored 32 goals and had 23 assists. That’s direct involvement in 55 goals. So he has Ronaldo beaten :d/
Dare: glad you mentioned Zanetti in your best 11. Amazing player. He doesn’t get enough credit!

someone pls tell me the name of the song please?
Dare | May 12th, 2008 @ 12:31 pm
Mojo-pin: You are right, Zanetti does not get enough credit. He is an amazing footballer.
The fact of the matter is that you cannot really gauge players that played in different eras side by side. You can compare Di Stefano and Puskas, but you can’t compare Platini and Zidane because they played in different eras. Zidane is hands down the best player of our generation, but i can almost guarantee that Zidane would never say with his own mouth that he is better than Platini. Cruijff and Best are the best wingers of all time with Zico probably third. One must hail the older generation, and i am sure even Zidane himself will be more than pleased to be placed on the bench ahead of players like Rivaldo, Charlton and Gullit. If you have that much of an issue with my starting 11, please feel free to compile yours.
Josh: FYI, i am on a scholarship in the states to WVU
FA: What a moron, Maradona is the greatest footballer ever you mug. Watch some f’ing football you retarded ****

I just hope Ronaldinho still enjoys football as much as he did a few years ago. If the answer is yes, he’ll take home at least on more World Footballer of the Year award. At least one
Dancel | May 12th, 2008 @ 1:49 pm
Football player of the year = DONT MATTER HOW MANY GOALS YOU SCORED! Henry scored 30+ goals for like 3 years plus was he footballer player of the year? NOPE. why? cause goals don’t matter Last year Kaka and Ronaldo had the same stats. Kaka outplayed the whole united team. Cannavaro out defended everyone in the world cup(did not deserve player of the year for sure cause one month is not a year) Zidane scored how many goals? prolly the same amount in total as C.Ronaldo’s 2 seasons but Zidane has 7 top 3 player of the awards. Ronaldinho in 05/06 best year outplayed every big team in his way Real Madrid, Milan. Chelsea etc etc.. Fifpro and player of the year and golden ball. No matter what you say josh and his goals. If C.Ronaldo cannot outplay big teams he will not be recognize as the best ever.
and BTW Ronaldinho played great football since 2001-2007. So he dropped form this year thats 5 years of non stop great football.
mojo-pin | May 12th, 2008 @ 3:13 pm
Exactly! And lets not forget that he won the World Cup and he was a big part of that team. He played a little more at the center of the pitch and helped alot more the defense. In some ways he was even a better player.
Personally, Barça and Man Utd aren’t my teams, i just like watching good football, and i can’t understand why there can’t be more than one amazing player at any given time. It can be fun to see a team outplay everybody else, but i rather see some competition. It’s like i rather see Prost and Senna battling it out and split the awards between them, than see Schumacher winning it all. That just sucks. So Ronaldo may be on top today, but lets see where he’s at in a couple of years. It’s not always all the way up, there are some bumps along the way.

YoElRey…said it perfectly, there is nothing more that I can add…everyone has their own opinion that they think is right. So here i’ll make mines as well.C.R is a greattttttt talent, there is no doubting that, also I won’t argue that atm he will be considered the best player in the world, especially if he wins the Champions League. Scoring 30+ goals is by no means an easy feat. Ok now I’ve said A…I must say B, Epl has soooooo many C class sides, in which he abuses, teams who just lay down & die, not because they want 2 but because they is just not enough skill 2 compete. While when he faces “BIG” teams…he never seems 2 perform as everyone with a brain can see for themselves…Also saying that fact I would like 2 see C.R play in Spain, where every team is skillful & never backs down 2 the big clubs. I say that because I know for a fact that there is NO WAY on this earth he could score so many goals La liga like that, because even teams like Almeria(newly promoted team) have players who r very skillful on the ball. I would really like 2 go into more detail but I can’t because I don’t wanna write a whole article. So in conclusion I’ll say He’s a great player but….Ronaldinho played in the toughest league there is, perform like the class act he is in “BIG” games etc El Classico in which he received a standing ovation by my home team….never seen before btw. So if u were 2 look at it with reason n being non partial…C.R is a fantastic player but until he shakes off big game gitters I don’t see him ever truly surpassing Ronaldinho. Then again I don’t see anyone doing that, because 2 me Ronaldinho is superhuman in the tricks that he does on the field & the way in which controls games he plays in….so unpredictable in everything he does. I hope he gets hs act together at Milan.

Very good video. Ronaldinho truly is one of the best in the world. But currently at the moment it is Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldinho is always a joy and a beauty to watch. Hopefully he will continue his career and get playing time on a good team. I will always remember him. Such a fine example to follow, he loves the game, he smiles, and when he does he plays good. Unlike Messi or Ronaldo, who barely crack a smile unless they are smiling to mock the referee. The joy is slipping away from football. Hopefully the youth can bring it back.
Dare | May 15th, 2008 @ 12:17 am
Tyler Murphy, i agree. The joy he exhibits is second to none. Football is a sport one could always tell he enjoyed to the fullest. My hopes are that those days come around again, he is truly one of the best we have seen in the last decade.
