MLS truly is a mickey mouse league. Almost every single one of those goals would have been prevented by a half decent defender

goal at 3:20 had me rolling, looks like my brother’s soccer game…
noticed the same thing about the defense, nearly every goal was a pass in front of the keeper and a poorly marked guy scoring… oh well, i guess mls gets more goals this way, keeps the fans happy.

hxo why can’t you just respect the fact that the MLS is trying to make something out of soccer in America instead of looking down on it

Alex, I would like to defend hxo by saying that what he said is true. I mean yes, mickey mouse is harsh but everyone gets what he is saying and it is true. At the same time I agree with you they are trying to make something out of soccer yet what hxo is saying does not imply anything about this. btw im not arguing so lets not make this an abuse thread… discussion is cool though…and to prove this I will say that you are right about respecting soccer in America… The more countries it is in, the better =) Whatever happened to Freddy Adu btw?

mls is getting better and better every year. yes it’s nowhere near the top teams of the top leagues in europe, but the play is generally good and entertaining. no worse than english championship or lower prem teams.
ps freddy adu plays at benfica now

Even as a DC United fan, I agree it is not as good as the top flight. But at the same time, there really is a gigantic drop after Spain, England and Italy. Germany is definitely 4th and France(or Lyon’s league) or Holland is in 5th.
However, at the end of it all, the game is getting better. More fans are coming to the games and it sounds like they are joining in the chanting and singing rather than bringing the whole family and making a picnic out of it. I also like how it’s a bit more free flowing than in England. Yes it’s a bit slower pace but at least it’s more entertaining than watching.
P.S. in terms of defenders. The only descent defenders in MLS are last year’s back four for Houston, Michael Parkhurst of New England, 40-yr old Claudio Suarez and Jonathan Bornstein of Chivas USA and Jimmy Conrad of Kansas City. Haven’t seen Davino(Dallas’ “designated player”), but the rest either meet the bare minimum(like Bobby Boswell) or are absolute crap(like Facundo Erpen). Most of the better American defenders are also in Europe right now as well(Jonathan Spector, Boca, Steve Cherundulo, Gooch, Jay DeMerit, Frank Simek, etc.)

everyone loves to hate on the united states. i would love to see how other countries fared with a salary cap. it’s tough for a league to grow with a salary cap. if teams can survive money wise and get a decent fan base than job well done.

of course mls is going to look like a lesser league when we dont have the top players from countries like brasil and argentina who are looking to sign top salaries with the european power leagues……what do you expect. Its no worse than the south american leagues, and the top mls team would be a middle board team in the premiership easily…so its not too bad…
bottom line is give it time, mls has only just started to make an impact in the us sports world.

no, no i agree with hxo
although i do like the fact that america has got a league and expanding football all over the world, some of these goals are really soft. i, being an aussie can also relate because our own A-league sometimes produces soft goals. in saying that though it’s a step in the right direction for football to have these comps going, getting more people to the game and pulling them from other ****** pretender sports like rugby league….. what a ****-me-to-tears boring game.
Oh yeah, this video was really poor quality, i could barely make anything out.

Actually, Adu is playing quite well at Benfica. He is by far America’s best player at the momment. DId anyone see him tear apart Brazil’s U-21? I am not saying he’s amazing, I am just trying to get across that he is not as bad as everyone makes him out to be.

Kansas City has a good team this year. They did lose to new england, but they played the ball much better by far. They have some quality players that actually play the ball on the ground instead of playing the all-too-popular boot ball. I can see them winning it all this year assuming everyone stays healthy.
