in all fairness it wasnt that poor a performance. That penalty was a little unlucky for james cause the ball didnt go where he wanted it to go and all he did was shield his body. That said france had the better chances throughout the game.

it wasn’t that bad. i think ppl will be disappointed b/c the style was a change of pace from the premiership. the possession was good, and that’s what i think Capello was trying to establish. it will be much easier to add creativity and speed later if you get the possession and defensive organization down now.

england are ****. premiership is only good because of the money and foreign quality players it brings. beckham is finished, he has very little to offer in the highest level anymore. wes brown an international player? ashley cole? what a joke.

Such a dull game after an initial bright opening half hour from England. Really thought this friendly would be worth a watch but it ended up as boring as pretty much every other England friendly in the past few years. Players clearly playing with their clubs in mind and not wanting to get injured turned it into a mere exhibition game designed to give Beckham his 100th cap.

England lost because of the stupid goalkeeping mistake. What a terrible decision as Adriano stated above.

England will never compete with their European/South American counterparts as long as their best players play in the EPL. They only care about club level success. Their national duties are secondary. and therefore less signicicant.

Awesome highlight Fred, thanks for this.
My thoughts on Englands new setup..
1. No more James please. I think at this point, where qualification is no longer a concern England need to take some chances. I really think Joe Hart/Ben Foster are the future and it would be important to get them intl exp now when nothing is at stake.
2. Congrats Becks, you’ve had a great career but clearly you’ve hit the wall. You’re now in the same boat as Louis Figo/Ryan Giggs, albeit MUCH less effective.. the national team no longer needs you and it’s time to let guys like Bentley, SWP, Ashley Young shine.
3. I hate Peter Crouch. Why are England sitting on guys like Defoe and Ashton?

I agree with everything, however:
I’ll add Green to #1. It looks like Pearce still wants Hart on the U21s, since all they have is Heaton(4th on the ManU depth chart after Van Der Sar, Foster and Kuczak) and a bunch of no namers after him.
I’ll also add Agbonlahor and Young to #3 as well.
I thought England looked different, in terms of a style of play, but at the end of the day Capello needs to tell all his players from the subs bench to skyrocket their performances at the club level, because their is a gigantic talent gap after the starting XI.
Stat that states it all: England currently doesn’t have a single striker with more than 10 premiership goals(Rooney 8, Defoe 9)!!!
