Who cares if the ref called a penalty, Man U couldnt finish at all. Carrick should have scored but somehow didnt. Evra hit the post, but it was a nice save from James. Portsmouth just happened to get a penalty and scored from it. You can blame the ref for it but Man U should have atleast had one goal by then

lucky lucky portsmouth…congrats to you. yes it was definitely a penalty, distin essentially bodychecked ronaldo with no intent to play the ball. and yes it was not a red card (not a definite goal scoring opportunity since anderson hald already gotten back to defend and rooney was standing on the line), but refs make mistakes an man utd should have put at least one of those chances away. they didn’t so portsmouth deserved to win – I hate it, but its true.

i dont blame the defense for giving up a goal. most teams give up a goal. our offense should have put at least 2 of those in.
unlucky, bad finishing and a **** ref. but it was our loss and our fault. no excuses for the result.
btw, there are NO big 4 teams in the competition.
I pick barnsley for the cup. They beat chelsea and liverpool. Only 2 prem sides left in i think, boro and portsmouth. this is going to be a fun one. imagine, cause its entirely plausible: an ALL CHAMPIONSHIP final for the FA Cup. This is great for the sport. it is year of the underdogs.

There was definitely an element of luck to pompey’s victory however, Harry Redknapp was correct to employ the only tactic that was feasible to get through the game which was to defend like ****, play counters and hope for the best… so well done to pompey

Watch from 2:56 into the highlights how Baros puts the knee in Kuzsaks head, takes half a step then jumps up to make a dive. The evidence is there for all to see on the replay from behind. Kuszak dont touch him with his arms at all. Baros makes the contact with his knee then jumps up like a dying swan..

As a United fan i agree with El Nino about the first statement, being a bit..Well..Biased and untrue, but every club has supporters who are like that. I recently encountered 2 Arsenal fans in one helping saying the same about Arsenal. With the questions you’ve asked, have you actually asked them to yourself? The only reason that you have more players linked to top European clubs is that 1. They are all foreign and would someday like to play in their homeland 2. Derby will be a piece of cake next weekend considering the wonderful way we play at the moment with a full fit squad (except Neville and Silvestre) to pick from. Giggs is a little worry but with Nani and park to fill up the gaps I’m not worried. Bolton on wednesday at home next week shouldnt be any problems either, then come crunch time when Liverpool comes to OT Sunday 23.rd day on wich Arsenal go to Stanford Bridge later in the afternoon.
Hopefully we’ll be 3-4 points clear by then.

The only reason that you have more players linked to top European clubs is that 1. They are all foreign and would someday like to play in their homeland 2. First of all – how did you manage to identify the club I support? I’m am a Liverpool supporter hence El Nino. Name me a better player (except defence) or equally as good as Ronaldo?

Liverpool lost it’s soul. Yes, the premier league is not what it used to be and foreign player have spiced it up for sure, but look at Arsenal lining up with all foreign players….. even in a reserve lineup in the league cup they’re having problems playinga brittish player… it’s a shame really.
United still going strong, yes we also brought in foreign players to spice up, but we still have the belief in brittish footballers, and the record is still growing stronger and stronger winning titles with homegrown talent on the pitch in every odd game. Giggs, Scholes, Fletcher, OShea have all been a very imported part of a majority of this season. Then we have Rio, Rooney, Hargreaves, Carrick. A brittish team could consist of a base of brittish player, even Mourinho ****** said the same… ;)

Yes it is a shame that British players are not being brought as often as like – but the truth of the matter is that british players are hype and no good – English defenders tend to be good, but midfielder and strikers are all average.
You say OShea, Fletcher, Hargreaves and Carrick etc but these guys won’t get the ball in the back of the net! Without Ronaldo you wouldn’t be where you are!

Hargreaves and Fletcher scored just recently, Fletcher even scored a double, so you’ve got your facts completely wrong mate..
Portsmouth came and parked the bus and worked great. But they wouldnt be able to do it in a replay. You can get away with it occasionaly but never in the long run. They took their chance and with big help from officials they got away with it this time.
The referee won them the game with two fair and square wrong decisions. That’s a fact and it cost us this time. Portsmouth didnt win through the football played, that’s for sure.
Ronaldo’s diving belongs a few years back. Get over it. There are players around worse than him at this very moment.
Just look at Fabregas getting a slight touch in the face from a Wigan player yesterday and making it look like being hit by an airplane. Stand up and be a ****** man… Torres is the same, diving all over the place…

When has Ronaldo dived to win a game this season? He got tripped against Derby at 3-1 lead in stoppage time and made the most of it, but the Derby player was 5 yards from the ball and shouldnt stick his foot out…
That’t the only incident I can recall this season. Have you got any other match winning penalties he has dived for to tell me about?? I can think of alleast one or two other occasions when he has been denied clear cut penalties though…

Yeah, Rooney’s had two bad injuries this season and has only accomplished 13 goals and made 9 assists in 30 appearances, compared to last seasons 23 goals and 13 assists in 55 appearances.
Pippo Inzaghi scored 8 goals in 32 apps last season. Ruud Van Nistelrooy has scored 16 goals in 26 apps this season.
Who are you comparing with?? Rooney is not an out and out striker. He could be compared to Messi or kaka. often drops deep and picks up balls. It’s a matter of fact I don’t miss Rooneys goals when he’s not playing, I mostly miss his workrate and creativity.
Hargreaves and Fletcher sure are no goalscorers, and not ment to be either. How many goals have Macherano scored this season?? ;)

Rooney has scored 89 goals in 253 apps until he reached 23 years of age. When Henry was 23 (end of season 1999-00 he was 23 in August 2000) he had scored 57 goals in 205 apps. Rooneys stats gives us aprox 0.35% goals per appearance and Henrys give us 0.27% goals per game… ;)

Ok, lets do a comparison with Samuel Eto’o
During his career he has scored 158 goals in 325 games wich gives us an impressive average of 0.48 goals/game aprox. Allthough Eto’o is a few years older than Rooney. Born 1981, joined Barcelona summer 2004, 27 years old (today actually) and until he was 23 (end of season 2003-04) he had scored 76 goals in 199 games wich only gives a slight advantage to Rooney who has 0.35 goals/game until this day.
But then, considering Rooney is more of a from behind or second striker who drops deep and Eto’o is the definitive “old fashion” box player they’re quite similar in goalscoring qualitites I would say…

El Nino: I’ve compared Rooney to all the strikers you mentioned using official FACTS and you have nothing to come up with? Was your argument THAT weak? Why not just admit you’re wrong atleast.. show some decency FGS… Rooneys qualities are often underestimated. Football is about team performances. Quality players like Ronaldo can make a huge difference in the odd game but in a season it’s down to the hole squad. Everyone must do their job and contribute defensivly as offensivly. That’s football. Rooney don’t score as much at the moment as he’s capable of, alot has to do with 2 longer injuries this season, he’s not really back to 100% yet, but I’m sure you’ll see the best of him in several games before the end of the season and you’ll be impressed for sure..
Peace: Football is not about flare. I’ve watched every single Arsenal and United game this season and when Arsenal are at their best I agree the football you play are enjoyable to watch, but so are Man Uniteds way of playing. Arsenal have a lower lowest level though, their worst game played is never any joy at all to watch, while with United, even the neutral hardly never finds a United game boring to watch.
But then again, if you don’t win anything this season noone will remember the “flare” – football is about winning titles, and it that department your record compared to ours speaks for itself.
I don’t think you will win the league this season to be honest, not to pick down on you (would be easy taking this that way since I’m a United fan) but considering 1. the form the top three teams are in, 2. that you still have to go to both Stanford bridge AND Old Trafford, 3. the width of the squads.
But time will tell. Everything is still wideopen. A couple of injuries, the odd bad performance can rule any of the teams out.
Also please let’s kill off the myth media propaganda about the so incredibly “young” Arsenal team… Get sick of hearing about it.
Uniteds squad are 25.9 year s of age in average, and Arsenals 25. Media really get their freaking facts messed up here…
We scored more goals than you, we fill up our stadium for 95% of the games and our games are being shown on TV worldwide much more than any other team in the premiership. We’ve got the biggest worldwide fanbase.
Also I still don’t understand how homegrown Londoners (Arsenal fans) can be so proud of a team consisting of almost no homegrown players at all. It’s easier for me as a oversea fan to support any team, but even as a Swede I appreciate and feel the spirit and legacy of the players we have who are born 10 mins away from Old Trafford and have played for their heart and soul club their hole life and say over and over again they would never consider to play for any other club.
When Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Neville etc prefer to play only a few more years and finish their carreers at the club in their hearts to earning twice the money in Italy or Spain it makes me so proud. When a player like Rooney (who joined from other clubs) say at 23 years of age that he wants to finish his carreer at this club you realise we’ve got something special going on here that don’t exist in any of the other top clubs we’re players come and go and only a few devotes their heart and mind to his club.

Look at the bench strength of manu and arsenal.Just compare the quality of manu strikers to arsenal.Tell me with such a strong squad why is manu still in second place?
I dont mind whether they come second or third this season,because they have already won by proving to all that you dont need star players to win.
Arsene wenger started this team as a dream and i just hope he succeeds.

Regarding Arsenals squad. Success builds success. Man United have been successfull for a long time and have built a huge fanbase that generates alot of money. But you don’t get anything for free, (it requires alot of hard work.) Unless you’ve got a control freak russion billionaire or a criminal Thai minister jumping to the rescue and splashing the cash for you to buy some success.
Man United bought alot of players as everyone else. As a wellknown club with alot of money we often pay much more than other clubs would have to do for the same players. But we still have a huge base in the squad built of playings who are products of our own youth academy, something Arsenal or Liverpool can’t manage anymore it seems…
Regarding Man U is in second place, well we had the worst start we’ve had for several years this season and most of the points we’ve lost have come on occasions when we lost with the absolute smallest margins. We’ve never been outplayed once this season. We lost a random break-of-luck goal at Emirates in stoppage time and Ronaldo missed a penalty for 2-0 with 20 mins to go against West Ham. We outplayed Reading, City x 2, Bolton and we simply got robbed in some of those games. Just take the two I mentioned first – win against Arsenal and West Ham and the league would in fact be done and dusted this season. Arsenal have perhaps (as I said before) had the higher tops but your worst level of a performance is really low.
We’re 2 points behind with a game in hand, we’ve matched Juventus record in the european cup by winning 10 games in a row, we have the (by many neutral experts) best central defence in the footballing world at the moment and so on.
It’s crunch time now, and to be honest I think we’ll have a huge indication of were the title is going to end up on the evening of Sunday March the 23rd. Derby away this weekend (Boro at home for Gunner who they were completely outplayed against at the Riverside) then Bolton at home in midweek before the crunchtime sunday 23rd when Liverpool comes to Old trafford followed later that afternoon by Arsenals visit to Stanford Bridge.
My hopes and beliefs is that we’re 3-4 points ahead by that time, and might even be able to afford dropping points against Arsenal and/or Chelsea away and still win the league in the end.
Regarding Arsenals squad – if it’s not big enough – win alot of trophies – make your clubs history famous – get some homegrown talent and you’ll also be able to spend some money…
or look around for some russian, arab or thai millionaire to buy you the success in the short run… (Don’t let any powerhungry stupid yankees put your club in depth though, not anything I recommend, it sucks, but in 2008 all you can do is the best of the situation!)

Exactly what I think about Rooney. He’s more of a playmaker aswell I think. He usually scores good goals like last season when his contribution was vital at times, but what I miss most when he’s not playing is his fighting spirit and ability to lift the team and the fans.

I am going to comment on today’s Derby match here coz that video is not posted yet. United are creating a lot of chances but missing most of those, some of those are easy sitters. Once again we had to look for Ronaldo to score. I am concerned for 2 things – missing too many chances and the other is the over-dependence on Ronaldo for scoring goals which I did not believe until this match. Of course we have potential goal scorers in Rooney and Tevez but where r those Rooney Saha goals gone. Also we used to see Rio and Vidic heading on the odd corners and Scholesy’s deadly volleys from 30 yards out. I for one is missing those do not know if other fellow United fans feel the same way

How many years have we (the supporters of other 91 clubs) watched Man United win unfounded penalties, find equalizers in phantom injury time and have opposing teams lose a player to questionable red cards?
It happens so often that we almost come to expect it.
Finally, the tables are turned and Ferguson & Co claim “bloody murder!” and demand a review of the referees?

What penalties have we got this season that have been questionable? What sendings off? Obi Mikel made a cruel tackle in the game against Chelsea, Mascherano made a 30 yard run against the ref to complain and got his second yellow.. be reasonable.
Chelsea: Ashley cole unbeliavably not sent off against Tottenham for a tackle that is a copy of the one that cut Eduardos leg off.
Terry not being sent off/penalty given against sunderland, total wrestling in the pen area.
Chelsea offside goals: Is it one each game now? One against Spurs (Joe Cole), equaliser against Arsenal..
Carvalho handball saving shot from Middlesboro right after they scored in the pen area not given.
Arsenal – eduardo handball scoring equaliser against Everton away. Offside 2-0 goal against City, and the week after another offside goal..
Can u please make a list of “all those” soft ref decision United got this season, because it seems as always, alot of bull and no facts when people complain on United.
