hm.. i thought rooney played ok even though i know what you mean by hes is deadly in finishing. i think rooney and him together should play together. and ferguson should use midfield that are in good condition. like fletcher played really well last weekend, he could have used him, or carrick is doing alright too.
that boy ronaldo didnt play well in the game. in my opinion rooney is a more effective player than him even though ronaldo gets all the attention. ronaldo doesnt seem to play well in CL and other important games.

yah i tink that scholese should have been drop..its anderson now…yah unired were lucky..but if wayne connected his first chance in goal one on one with the keeper united should have won…if that was ruud in that situation its sure thing 1-0 goal…………….wayne should be deadly thats the weakness of his game..

also look at the way that lyon played with.. they were taking it easy.. that’s why the match was a bit slow..

good result i guess.. If Rooney had scored first from that through ball, MU will probably be better off. He needs to work on his finishing. However, there’s still no denying that Rooney is a great talent, a great presence on the field.
Lyon plays well at home. I’m not denying Benzema’s skills or anything, but the Lyon’s goal is quite lucky i guess, all 4 defenders in like 1 meter around him and the ball just nicely slots in between them, straight at the inner post and into the net.
Nani is starting to look very interesting. His crossing are quite accurate, two consistent performances in a row..not too bad.On the other hand, Carrick is throwing the ball around aimlessly around the field. Scholes is still top notch, but for Giggs, age is really starting to catch up with him, he’ll probably retire next year.
For the english teams, I’m saying Man U 2 Lyon 1.
Arsenal will have a very very hard time at the San Siro I say AC Milan 2 Arsenal 0.
Liverpool and Inter might be a very close match, I have a feeling Inter can make a comeback .
Chelsea will win the round at Stamford Bridge.
Don’t get me wrong, I would love to see the English teams go through. :d

Not a bad result considering we were playing away from home. Our advantage goal gave us a big boost for the next home tie. Better than a 1-0 defeat.
Nani and Tevez should always start in any match. We saw how yesterday the team changed when those 2 came in.
We will advance considering that now we are gonna play at home and that is a big advantage.

btw, Benzema should move on to a better team. He won’t win cups with Lyon (except the french cups) and he’ll hardly be recognised. He should go to Man U, arsenal, Chelsea (minus Drogba next season). or ac milan, those teams are in need of a good striker… I don’t know about Real.. I have this impression that players that come to Real doesn’t shine anymore..might be wrong (Robinho.. i know) :d

Hey guys. I think it was a fair result for the lads. Lyon played their part in making it hard for us. I think Fergie should abandon the 4-5-1 formation. If he had played a 4-4-2 with tevez upfront alongside rooney from the start, then the match would have produced a different result.
In the midfield i was disappointed with scholes and giggs, i was sure carrick was going to get the start. I agree with roxii that nani should have started the game instead of giggs. Lyon dont stand a chance now at old traforrd

i totally agree karan. Giggs played horrible the only reason Sir Alex started him was because it was his 100th game playing in the champions league. When Nani when on the pitch the whole game changed. He got the assist and Scholes NO!

united had the upper hand for the majority of the game. We held possession, but were unable to make any chances, Lyon did a great job defensively. Our own back 4 did very well. Lyon were never able to get in behind with a good chance. Benzema did a great job on that strike, found a little space and fired home, but even then the defense still never let him in behind. Great job. If Rooney could find his boots from before the 2nd injury and wear that pair, then we would have won this game with the early goal. But no such luck. Not many opportunities for goals on both sides. We were lucky to score that goal, but regardless we deserved it. 1-1 was a fiar result, and we have the advantage coming into the home leg. United haven’t lost at home in europe for like 3 years. I was disappointed with the performance, but the result is decent and all looks set to advance. A home win will take us through, or even a 0-0 draw. We’ve outscored at home this season 7-1 or 9-1 or something like that in europe, so its our spot to lose, and we have the motivation this year.
Of all the English teams, United are probably in the best position, maybe tied with Pool.
Arsenal are screwed, they need an advantage, no way they beat Milan at home.
Chelsea may get upset if they draw 1-1 at home, but they probably have the advantage.
Pool have an advantage, but with their consistency, or lack of it, I wouldnt be surprised if Inter knocks them out with a home thrashing.

i’m not sure why there’s been so much complaining about the result. a 1-1 draw away from OT in the champions league against lyon, who have won the french league for 6 straight years, is a fine result. giggs is in his mid thirties, give him a break; regardless of age every player has bad games and with age they occur more often. much like fletcher, scholes, and o’shea, he’s earned his spot in the squad because of his years of admirable service to united. w/out giggs and scholes, united could never have completed a treble. so stop whining and appreciate their effort. nani is a great playe,r and in my opinion, he should play more; but his time will come.

Watch the team for 90 minutes week after week and you will eat your words half of you lads on here. Nani has done well in recent weeks but his crossing has been shocking most of the season, i cant say enough good things about anderson but scholes can slow the game when it needs to be, if wed have gone 1 0 up then we wouldve took the **** and dictated the pace of the game. I agree we should go 442 but until i’ve won every competition under the sun and managed THE greatest football team on earth for 20 years i’ll trust the main man sir alex.
