Ferdinand aware of England’s struggling

September 6th, 2007 . posted by Roxii Comments

England defender, Rio Ferdinand has said that it would be a “catastrophe” if England will not qualify for next year’s European Champion Ship.

This is the first Euro for Ferdinand after he was left out of the Euro 2000 squad and was banned four years later for missing the drugs test.

The 28 years old defender said “I cannot even contemplate not qualifying. If, God forbid, we failed, it would be a catastrophe. But four of our last five games are at home so we couldn’t be in a better position. We have a great opportunity.”

England has been booed by its supporters in recent games after their struggling in Group E.

He added: “The fans pay their money to get through the doors, so they can show their frustrations in any way they want. But we do need them behind us on Saturday, so it is up to us to play the football to get them there.”
