Iraq Are the Asian Cup Champions 2007

July 29th, 2007 . posted by admin 2 Comments »

Against all odds the Iraqi football team has done their country proud by lifting the Asian Cup at their very first try not to mention beating a strong Saudi side.A big congrats to the Iraqi team, they have now sent their fans wild back in Iraq and at least for a few moments they will be joy in the war zone country.

The hero of the day was team captain Younis Mahmoud Khalaf who scored in the 71st minute with a thumping header, the lone goal came on a corner kick from Hawar Mulla Mohammed in the second half. It cemented the underdog Iraqi national team’s place atop the Asian soccer world, a storybook run that saw the Iraqis outshine Australia, Vietnam and South Korea before toppling three-time champ Saudi Arabia in the final.

Saudi Arabia were outplayed by an Iraqi team riding high on a wave of national support.

The Iraqis created a string of chances, only to be denied by sloppy finishing and extraordinary saves from Saudi goalkeeper Yasser Al Mosailem.

Saudi Arabia had been the best attacking team in the tournament, scoring 12 goals on their way to the final, but could not find a way past the Iraqis, who had the best defence in the competition, conceding just two goals in six matches.

Few people had given Iraq any chance of winning the tournament after a haphazard preparation brought about by the war at home and facing opponents who were appearing in their sixth final in 23 years.

The next Asian Cup (2011) will be played in Qatar and this time around it will be on January not July.

Will the Tevez transfer be completed??

July 29th, 2007 . posted by admin 1 Comment »

The biggest question in the minds of all Man Utd fans all around the world : will Tevez ever play for Manchester United??no one can deny the ability and the talent that is Carlos Tevez. Tevez plays with all out determination and heart and who wouldn’t want a player with such attitude.Yeah it took him sometime to settle down at West Ham but boy did he deliver. As a Man Utd fan myself, i believe Tevez has all the credentials to be a Man Utd great one day. The prospect of Tevez linking with Rooney upfront is definitely mouth watering and can send chill down every defender’s spine.
Tevez

the question now that needs an answer is whether Tevez will ever play in the Theather Of Dreams as a Red Devil. I certainly hope so..
According to his advisor Kia Joorabchian

Carlos Tevez’s move from West Ham United to Manchester United could be resolved as soon as next week

Whatever the case maybe, i just hope the situation will be soon resolved and all Man Utd fans will be able see Carlos Tevez in the red of Man Utd. Long live the devils..

Roque Santa Cruz Joins Blackburn Rovers for £ 3.3 million

July 28th, 2007 . posted by admin No Comments »

For £3.3 million i think Blackburn has aquired a bargain, Roque Santa Cruz is a good player and he is young at only 25-years-old, also take into account that he has amassed 46 caps for the Paraguayan national side, scoring 16 goals in the process.

I think as soon as Luca Toni and Miroslav Klose joined Bayern, Santa Cruz knew he was below the pecking order and it’s interesting to note that he was linked to a number of clubs around Europe, including Real Zaragoza but in the end opted to partner Benni Mccarthy at Blackburn.

July 27th, 2007 . posted by admin No Comments »

Chelsea captain, John Terry, has finally signed a new contract with Chelsea and what a deal it is as reports are that he will be earning £150,000-a-week!.

Terry’s future had been in some doubt after talks between him and the club broke down towards the end of last season.

Despite the massive expenditure, Chelsea will be delighted to have tied down their talismanic skipper.

“I’m really happy this has now been concluded,” said Terry.

“There has been a lot of speculation but these things take time and I never had any doubts that I wanted to stay at Chelsea and that the club wanted me to stay.
