Kaka Wants to Move to Real Madrid?

July 1st, 2007 . posted by admin No Comments »

Spanish sports newspaper “AS” has reported that AC Milan’s Kaka has urged club President,Berlusconi, to listen to offers from Real Madrid.

This is what he is reported to say:

“President, I have won everything with the Milan jersey. I’ve given and received a lot from this shirt, but now Real Madrid are calling and I want to accept this challenge. You decide, but I ask you to at least listen to their proposal.”

Will he join Real Madrid? What he said makes sense as he almost single handedly won the Champions League for Milan and now a move to the Spanish Champions is not really hard to realize considering that they have practically rid themselves of the “old stars” Carlos,Becks,Ronaldo,Zidane and have replaced them talented youngsters and a mix of experience in Van Nistelrooy, Raul, Guti and Emerson.

What is Lyon Doing with All That Money?

July 1st, 2007 . posted by admin No Comments »

Olympique Lyonnais or just Lyon for short has been the dominant force in the French League even though they have sold some pretty good players down the road.Eric Abidal recently switch to Barcelona while Florent Malouda has revealed he wishes to join Chelsea this summer.

Now let’s take a look at some of the major players who were transfered out of Lyon:

Michael Essien - €35m

Mahamadou Diarra - €26 million

Eric Abidal - €15 million

Edmilson - €10 million

Tiago - €13m

That’s a total of €99 million from 2004-2007, and that’s even before the sale of Malouda!.

But of course they did purchase Tiago from Chelsea and Milan Baros from Aston Villa but other than that the money gained from selling their top players has gone virtually untouched, so just what is Lyon up to? with that kind of $$ they could easily bring anyone the want to their squad, not to mention that they are the current champs and are in the Champions League next season, that alone will attract many top players.

Hopefully they do something worthwhile with all that cash.

**UPDATE: I just discovered that Lyon bought two players from Lille for a total of €24.
